Lady Chaps Aim For First Road Wins Monday in New Mexico

Series Originally Scheduled For Sunday Takes Place Monday in Portales, N.M.

PORTALES, N.M. (March 15, 2021) – Lubbock Christian University aims for their first road wins of the season Monday, as they head to Portales for a 2 p.m. (central) Lone Star Conference doubleheader against Eastern New Mexico. The games were originally scheduled for Sunday, but wind advisories led to the teams agreeing to move the series to Monday.

LCU and ENMU Series Snapshot
  • LCU leads the all-time series over ENMU, 33-0.
  • The Lady Chaps went 1-0 against ENMU last season, with the lone meeting resulting ina 10-2 LCU win in five innings (it was a non-conference game in Lubbock).

Coach Talk
  • LCU head coach Daren Hays is in his 11th season at the helm of the Lady Chaps.
  • Hays is LCU's winningest softball head coach, entering Monday with a softball record of 429-136.
  • Along with surpassing 300 coaching wins in softball, Hays had surpassed 300 wins as a collegiate baseball head coach. He spent eight seasons as the LCU baseball head coach and compiled a 356-163 record.
 
National Notes
  • LCU opened the season ranked No.19 in the NFCA Top 25 Preseason Poll.
  • The Lady Chaps have bounced the prior three weeks between No.24 and No.25, and dropped out this week (they are receiving votes).
