Seven Lady Chaps Honored by Lone Star Conference

LCU Places Four on All-Conference Team

RICHARDSON, Texas (April 20, 2021) – Seven Lubbock Christian University women's soccer players were recognized Tuesday as the Lone Star Conference announced its Spring 2021 postseason awards.

The Lady Chaps had four players – Celia Duarte, Shadiana Haney, Arely Jimenez and Kaylen McNatt named to the All-Conference Team. Three LCU players – Allison Scott, Madison Mayben and Haney – were named to the All-Academic Team and Lindsey Elison earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team.

Duarte earned a spot on the All-Conference Team after a sophomore season in which she was tied for the team lead with eight points. The Mansfield, Texas native scored three goals and assisted two others while leading the team in both shots (30) and shots on goal (14).

Jimenez played all nine games of the season in LCU's midfield, spending 682 minutes on the field overall. She broke through for one goal during the year, scoring the eventual game-winner on March 31 against St. Mary's.

Haney and McNatt both played on the Lubbock Christian back line, which had a solid year, limiting opponents to 1.11 goals per game, which was the fifth-best mark in the conference. LCU opponents attempted 87 total shots, only 43 of which were on goal, and the Lady Chaps posted four shutouts on the year. Haney also tallied one assist in the March 31 win over St. Mary's.

Off the field, Haney also boasts a 4.0 GPA, which earned her spot on the All-Academic Team. She is an early childhood education major. Mayben and Scott both joined her on the team, with Mayben also holding a 4.0 and Scott checking in with a 3.86. Scott was tied for the team lead in points with eight, scoring three times and assisting two more goals. She is an accounting major. Mayben played almost 700 minutes on LCU's defense and also tallied one shot on goal. Mayben is majoring in biology.

Elison was the lone Lady Chap on the All-Freshman Team. The Albuquerque, N.M. native played in all nine games, including two starts, and scored a pair of goals. In total she had 11 shots, seven of which were on goal.

The Lady Chaps finished the season 5-4, earning the No. 2 seed in their division and receiving a bye to the second round of the Lone Star Conference tournament before seeing their season come to an end.
