Lloyd Daniels and
Parker Hicks have been named to the 2022 Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List, Small College Basketball announced on Saturday. The award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within small college basketball.

The Top-100 list includes some of the top player from NCAA Division II and III, NAIA Division I and II, the USCAA and NCCAA. This is the sixth season for Small College Basketball to present the prestigious award, although a winner was not named in 2021. The Bevo Francis Awards Committee, which is made up of 20 coaches, will consider season statistics, individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements when they eventually select a winner.

Clarence "Bevo" Francis played at Rio Grand College (now the University of Rio Grande) in Ohio from 1952-54. During his two seasons at Rio Grande, Bevo became the most popular basketball player in the world, and ultimately helped to save the school from bankruptcy. During his first year, the Redmen went 39-0, and Bevo scored 1,954 points and averaged 50.1 points per game. Against Ashland College (KY), Francis scored 116 points, which included 55 points in the final 10 minutes of the game.  He was drafted by the Philadelphia Warriors of the NBA upon graduation.

Dominez Burnett of Davenport University was the first winner of the award in 2016, and Kyle Mangas of Indiana Wesleyan (NAIA) was the most recent winner in 2020.

On February 15th, the list will be reduced to the Top 50 players. One month later on March 15
th, the Top 25 players will be announced. On April 2
nd, the finalists of this year's award will be announced, followed by the Bevo Francis Award winner being crowned on April 4
th.

Hicks leads the team in scoring with 17.0 points per game and also averages 8.5 rebounds per game. His field-goal percentage of 55.6 is currently leading the Lone Star Conference, though he and Daniels have switched back and forth in that top spot all season. Hicks has seven double-doubles on the year and he leads the team with 15 blocks. The Decatur native has been named LSC Defensive Player of the Week four times in eight tries this year.
Daniels isn't far behind Hicks with 15.1 points per game, and he has done well to create scoring opportunities for his teammates as well. The New Jersey native averages 5.2 assists per game, which is the second-most in the conference. He is currently shooting 55.2 percent from the field, including a scoring 48.2 percent from behind the arc, while pulling down 4.1 rebounds per game.
Daniels and Hicks have led the Chaps to a 16-0 start to the season and the No. 1 ranking in both NCAA Division II national polls. LCU's next time on the court comes Thursday, as they host St. Edward's at 7:30 p.m. at the Rip Griffin Center.
