LOOKING AT StMU
- St. Mary's holds a 15-11 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 1980. LCU has won nine of the last 14 meetings in the series, but the Rattlers have won the previous two meetings. StMU swept the season series last season, with a neutral site season-opening 3-2 win in Oklahoma City and a 3-0 regular season win in San Antonio, Texas on Nov. 13. The two teams have not met in Lubbock since a 3-1 LCU on Oct. 27, 2018, which placed LCU with wins in four of the previous five meetings in the Hub City. Four of the last eight meetings have resulted in five-set matches, including two of the previous three meetings (StMU has won three of the four meetings going five sets).

- StMU went 8-9 last season in LSC play and finished in a share of 9th place in the conference standings (14-11 overall). Preseason ranked No.9 this season, they are off to a 7-9 overall start and they are tied for seventh in the LSC with a 3-2 mark.

- The Rattlers enter play 2-4 on the road following a 3-2 win in Portales, N.M. Friday over Eastern New Mexico. StmU rallied to win the fourth set 29-27 to force a fifth set, which they won for the road win.

- StMU ranks fifth in the LSC in aces per set with an average of 1.6 per set. Cali Nims leads StMU with 20 aces (tied for 12th in the LSC).

- Dallasstar Johnson enters the week rank tied for 10th in the LSC in total blocks (55) and averages 1.00 per set (11th in the LSC).

LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU is 7-10 on the season (3-3 in conference and in 11th place in the standings) and coming off a 3-2 win Friday over St. Edward's. They are 6-2 in home matches this season. Sage Chain leads LCU in kills at home with 67 on the season. Chain is averaging 2.58 kills per set at home, and also leads LCU in blocks at home with 38 (pace of 1.23 per set). Additional leaders at home include Kendall Mahaney averaging 4.39 digs per set and Kayton Genenbacher averaging 10.9 assists and .39 aces per set.

-The Lady Chaps will tell you their schedule has been tough. Now there is proof, as the NCAA strength of schedule numbers reveal LCU having played the 23rd toughest schedule among all Division II programs. Heading into the week, LCU opponents have calculated a win percentage of 60.8%, which also ranks second among LSC programs.

- Lubbock Christian, 0-7 when losing the opening set of matches this season, is 6-0 when they win the third set and now 1-10 when they lose the set. Friday marked LCU's first win this season when losing the third set. Sticking to record trends, LCU is 7-0 when either leading in kills or leading in attack percentage and 0-10 when trailing each of the categories. Bizarrely, LCU is 1-5 when leading in blocks in a match, collecting their first win Wednesday (when producing more blocks than their opponent).

- Sage Chain heads into Saturday's match as the Lady Chaps team leader in kills (141), with Lily Bickley with 140 kills. Bickley leads LCU in kills per set (2.55) and Chain is LCU's leader in points per set (3.07). In six conference matches, Bickley ranks eighth in the LSC hitting .350 and has an attack percentage over .500 in three of the last four matches. She has an attack percentage of .285 on the season, ranking ninth in the LSC.

- Setter Kayton Genenbacher has four double-doubles on the season (leads LCU). Genenbacher averages 9.87 assists per set (third in the LSC and 49th nationally), .27 aces per set and 2.19 digs per set. The sophomore is third in the LSC in total assists (622), which is 22nd nationally.

- Sophomore libero Kendall Mahaney has seven matches of at least 20 digs this season. Mahaney leads the team with 283 digs (fifth in the LSC and 49th nationally) and is at a pace of 4.5 per set (eighth in the LSC and 70th nationally).

The Lady Chaps rank sixth in LSC matches with 2.2 blocks per set. Kalli Dalland ranks fourth in the LSC in blocks per set in conference matches (1.2).

- Sage Chain (52), Lily Bickley (51) and Aaliyah Gray (46) all have at least 45 kills in LSC contests. Chain leads LCU with 2.26 kills per set and has a pace of 2.87 points per set in LSC contests. LCU is hitting .201 in conference matches, but holding the opposition to a .183 attack percentage. LCU is led in blocks in conference play by Kalli Dalland (22), and Hailey Cournoyer leads in blocks per set averaging 1.2 per sets in LSC matches.

- Haley Cournoyer had nine kills and five blocks against St. Mary's on Nov. 8, 2019 and the averages of 1.0 blocks per set and 2.4 points per set has her leading LCU in active career numbers against St. Mary's. Sage Chain has the overall totals against StMU with 21 kills, 10 blocks and 27.0 points in three career matches. Aaliyah Gray had 11 kills against StMU on Sept. 3, 2021, pacing at a mark of 2.12 kills per set. Kendall Mahaney has 38 career digs against StMU, with 4.75 per set in eight career sets.
