GULF SHORES, Ala. (February 6, 2022) – Lubbock Christian University bounced back from Saturday's aggravating losses Sunday with a pair of wins to close out their stay at the Gulf Shores Invitational. LCU had five-run first innings in each game, leading to a 6-1 win over Montevallo and a five-inning shortened 12-2 win over West Georgia at Sportsplex.

The first five batters reached base safely to start the game and it led to a five-run inning, which stole the game's momentum early.
How it Happened:
A trio of walks and a pair of singles led to the opening five LCU batters reaching base safely to open the first inning. LCU had three hits in the inning, with
Kasey Flores,
Tyla Lee and
Athena Muniz all hitting singles and all three resulted in a RBI. The three hits, combined with two errors and three walks led to a five-run first inning.
Skylar Herrera made it 6-0 with a leadoff home run in the third inning. Montevalo tallied their lone run off a solo home run by Lauren Higginbothan with two outs in the seventh inning.
Inside the Numbers:
- Pitcher Taylor Franco went 5.0 innings and did not allow a run (three hits allowed).
- UM was 0-for-9 with runners on base. The lone hit was by Savannah Wysocki.
- The Falcons hit into 12 ground outs, while flying out three times in the game.
- LCU played 19 different players in the game. Freshman Hannah Wells had a hit in her collegiate debut in the batter's box.
- Skylar Herrera had LCU's first home run of the season and it was her 13th career home run.
- The meeting was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Kasey Flores and
Brooke Makemson each hit doubles (back-to-back) in the first inning, which led to a five-run inning for LCU.
How it Happened:
LCU had a string of five consecutive batters reach base safely in the first inning. LCU had a trio of singles and two doubles factoring in to a 5-0 lead. Flores, who had a RBI-double in the first inning, hit a three-run home run to straightaway centerfield with two outs in the second inning for an 8-0 lead.
The Wolves had their only runs of the game in the third inning. Krystin Nix hit a triple to plate a run and scored on a wild pitch to cut LCU's lead to 8-2.
Delrosario added a run for LCU with a RBI-single to right-centerfield in the third inning before the Lady Chaps produced a three-run fourth inning. Herrera led off the fourth inning with a walk, and it was followed by singles from
Tyla Lee, Flores and Makemson, with Lee and Makemson's hit resulting in a RBI.
Inside the Numbers:
- The win in the circle went to Maxine Valdez (1-1), who went 4.0 innings and did not allow an earned run She struck out five batters.
- Five of LCU's runs were two-out RBI, as LCU was 5-of-9 (.556) with two outs.
- LCU was 8-of-15 (.533) with runners in scoring position. They were 9-for-18 (.500) with runners on base.
- The Lady Chaps, who had not a multi-hit performance through their opening three games of the season, had four multi-hit performances, with Flores, Delrosario and Makemson each getting three hits.
