Game 1
LCU Highlights:
Turning Point:
A five-run fifth inning not only put the game out of reach, but allowed LCU to hit the run rule to end the game early.
How it Happened:
LCU opened the scoring without a base hit.
Savannah Wysocki reached on an walk in the first inning and stole second and third base. In the process of stealing third, a throwing error allowed her to score. Wysocki hit an infield RBI-single in the third inning to score a run and she eventually scored on a
Brooke Makemson triple for a 3-0 lead.
In the fifth inning, LCU quickly wrapped up the game with five consecutive extra-base hits. Wysocki tripled before
Tiarra Delrosario and Makemson each doubles, and
Tyla Lee and
Kasey Flores hit back-to-back home runs to end the game.
Inside the Numbers:
- Taylor Franco's complete game shutout marked her 40th career complete game (sixth of the season) and she claimed her 18th career shutout (fourth of the season). She is two shutouts away from passing Alyssa Gutierrez (2009-10) and Katera Eltsosie (2014-17), who each had 19 career shutouts in program history. Franco's 18 career shutouts is tied for eighth among active NCAA Division II pitchers.
- Kasey Flores home run was her team-co-leading seventh of the season and her 30th career home run. She is 20th in active career home leaders in NCAA Division II.
- Tyla Lee's homer was her 14th of her career and is her seventh of the season to co-lead LCU alongside Flores.
- Savannah Wysocki hit her team-leading sixth triple of the season, which has her with a program-career record 21 in her LCU career. The mark leads all active NCAA Division II student-athletes.
Game 2
LCU Highlights:
Turning Point:
ENMU had their only hit of the game in the fourth inning. LCU eliminated any rally by turning a 6-4-3 double play.
How it Happened:
Wysocki led off the bottom of the first inning with a base hit and would score on a
Kasey Flores RBI-single. LCU made it 3-0 in the second inning, as Donaldson doubled to leadoff the inning. Delrosario and Makemson each had RBI-singles in the inning.
Skylar Herrera triples in the third inning, and she would score on a Donaldson RBI for a 4-0 advantage. The two played a factor into the scoring in the fifth inning, as Herrera and Donaldson each had RBI-singles and LCU built the lead to 6-0 in the inning.
A pair of walks and passed balls allowed the Greyhounds to score their only run in the seventh inning.
