ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Jazmene Duran and
Riley Webb set personal bests in their events on day two of the UNM Team Open on Saturday, Jan. 28.
Duran set a new personal best in the shot put with a toss of 11.81 meters. That mark beats her old personal best by 0.11 meters. Her 19th place finish is her first career collegiate top-20 finish.
Landon Bowers finished third in his heat and 14
th overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.57 seconds. He beat out the runner that finished behind him by 0.20 seconds.
Joy Egwu was just 0.03 seconds from breaking her school record in the 60-meter run, finishing 20
th with a time of 7.77 seconds. Egwu finished second in her heat, beating out runners from UNLV, UC Irvine and New Mexico.
Luke Mosley almost set a new personal best in the 800-meter run, finishing 13
th with a time of 2:00.63. He missed tying his personal best by 0.39 seconds. His teammate
Riley Webb finished right behind him in 14
th with a personal best time of 2:00.91. That time beat his old personal best mark by almost two seconds.
Sheyla Vilca finished 15
th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.53. It is her highest career finish in the indoor 800-meter run. Vilca finished seventh out of twelve other runners in her heat. Her teammate
Sydney Jones just missed a personal best in the event by 0.19 seconds, finishing 27
th with a time of 2:35.60. Jones finished sixth out of thirteen runners in her heat.
The LCU track & field teams will return to Albuquerque next week for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic. Action begins on Feb. 3 from the ABQ Convention Center.
