Lady Chaps Travel to Laredo for Match with Dustdevils

LAREDO, Texas – Fresh off a 3-1 win over Oklahoma Christian, the Lubbock Christian University women's soccer team travels to Laredo to take on Texas A&M International.

LADY CHAPARRAL HEADERS
  • The Lady Chaps are coming off a 3-1 win over Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Lexi De La Cruz scored two goals in the match to bring her season total to seven. Freshman Emily Douglas scored a goal and recorded an assist. Kenley Blevins and Hannah Irons had one assist each.
  • LCU is 2-2-1 in Lone Star Conference play and finds themselves in fifth place in the conference standings.
  • The Lady Chaps have outscored their opponents 18 to 13 this season, averaging 1.64 goals per game on 13.4 shots a game.
  • The Lady Chaps have taken 147 shots, 65 of which have been on goal.
HOMETOWN HERO
  • Lubbock native Lexi De La Cruz has been one of the best offensive players in the nation this season. She has recorded the sixth most assists and 15th most goals in all of NCAA Division II.
  • She has scored the most goals in the LSC and is top-3 in the conference in assists, shots on goal, and points
  • Lexi has scored seven goals and dished out six assists through the first 11 games.
 FLASHY FRESHMAN
  • Freshman Forward Emily Douglas has been De La Cruz's partner in crime on the offensive end this season.
  • The Phoenix, AZ. Native has found the back of the net three times this season and contributed three assists as well.
  • She is top-10 in the LSC in game winnings goals and assists.
MURRAY MADNESS
  • Freshman Goalkeeper Kara Murray has started every game for the Lady Chaps. Facing 117 shots and making 46 saves.
  • She has a .786 save percentage and is top-3 in the LSC in saves and saves per game.
THE SERIES WITH TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL
  • The Lady Chaps have dominated the all-time series going 11-1-0 against TAMIU.
  • In 2022 LCU beat International 1-0.
SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS
  • Texas A&M International is coming off a 1-1 draw against UT Tyler on Wednesday (Oct. 4).
  • The Dustdevils have outscored their opponents 13 to 10 through their first nine games. They average 1.44 goals per game on 15.3 shots a game.
  • The Dustdevil offense is led by Krysan St. Louis and Lucia Cuadra. The duo has combined for nine goals and four assists.
  • St. Louis has recorded the most shots on goal in the LSC this season and is top-3 in the conference in shots and goals.  
  • Cuadra is top-10 in the LSC in shots, shots on goal, goals, and points.   
  • Louise Atkinson has seen the majority of minutes in goal for International facing 102 shots and making 35 saves. Atkinson is top-5 in the LSC in saves and save percentage.
  • International comes into the match in 12th place in the LSC Standings.
  • TAMIU is coached by Jovany Macias who is in his first season.
A WIN WOULD
  • Give the Chaps their sixth win of the season.
  • Give LCU their 121st win in program history.
  • Give the Chaps a 3-2-1 conference record.
