LADY CHAP HEADERS
  • For the second-straight game, Lubbock Christian University will face a ranked opponent as they head to Denton to face Texas Woman's at 6 p.m. at Pioneer Soccer Park
  • The Lady Chaps were shut out for just the third time all season on Saturday but for the second-straight game, meaning they have not scored since Oct. 7 in a win against TAMIU
  • LCU senior goalkeeper Emma Wright has an .821 save percentage, which leads the conference among net-minders with at least 60 saves on the year
  • With a 5-2-4 league record, the Lady Chaps have 19 points in the LSC standings and are in sole possession of seventh place in the league standings
  • TWU's only loss so far this season came at Midwestern State on Sept. 27, but they have tied back-to-back games against Dallas Baptist and UT Dallas

TAKING ON THE TOP 25
This is the third time this season that Lubbock Christian will take on an opponent ranked in the top 25. They previously hosted No. 21 Midwestern State on Sept. 23, earning a 1-1 draw against the Mustangs and lost 3-0 to No. 2 Dallas Baptist. In 2022, they tied No. 10 West Texas A&M 0-0. LCU's last win against an opponent in the top-25 was against Dallas Baptist in 2021. DBU was ranked No. 12, but the Lady Chaps shut them out 1-0 for their first and only win against a ranked opponent.

LOOKING AT THE LONE STAR
Dallas Baptist and Midwestern State both secured wins on Saturday, leaving them tied atop the league standings with 31 points, although DBU has played one fewer game than MSU. TWU is in third with 29 points after back-to-back draws. Oklahoma Christian and UT Tyler are tied for the next spot with 22 points apiece, just ahead of West Texas A&M in sixth and Lubbock Christian in seventh. The top eight teams by points at the end of the regular season will advance to the LSC Tournament. The seven seed will host the eight seed for a play-in game on Oct. 30 to start the postseason.

FIRST THINGS FIRST
Lubbock Christian has been at their best this season when they are the first team to find the back of the net. LCU is 7-0-0 on the season in games in which they score first, including 4-0-0 in games where they lead at halftime. Conversely, they are 1-3-2 in games where their opponent scores first. Their one comeback win this season came at Oklahoma Christian, when the allowed a goal in the sixth minute but came back to win 2-1.

OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
The Lady Chaps are averaging 1.80 goals per games, which is tied for the sixth-best mark in the conference. Of their 27 goals, 11 different players have found the back of the net, led by Journey Curs with five scores. Curs is also tied for the team lead in assists with four, along with Claire Jacobson. Logan Holloway is second on the team with four goals, but has not scored since the Sept. 19 game against Angelo State. LCU is averaging 12.6 shots per game and put 48.7 percent of those on goal.

ALL THE WRIGHT PLACES
Senior goalkeeper Emma Wright made four saves in the loss to DBU. Wright, who has been named the LSC Goalkeeper of the Week twice this season, has made 64 saves, which ranks sixth in the conference. Her .821 save percentage is the best among league keepers with at least 60 saves. She has faced 177 shots, posting a 1.02 goals against average and recording five shutouts. Wright surpassed the 100-save mark for her career earlier this year and is now up to 63 in 42 collegiate games.

ROAD JOURNAL
The Lady Chaps have lost just once through their first seven road games this season, beating Western Colorado, CSU-Pueblo and Oklahoma Christian and UT Permian Basin. Counting Wednesday's contest, there are two road games left on the 2026 schedule. LCU went 4-3-1 away from home in 2025, marking the first time they were better than .500 on the road since 2019. Pioneer Soccer Park, located on part of the former TWU Golf Course, opened in 2018 and features a natural grass playing surface.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
  • Lauren Wade leads the Texas Woman's offense with nine goals and a pair of assists for 20 points
  • TWU head coach Babak Abouzar was previously at Lubbock Christian as the program's first-ever head coach from 2010-11, posting a 14-18-4 record with the Lady Chaps
  • Faith Graves  has handled the majority of the goalkeeping duties for TWU, making 26 saves with a .897 save percentage with 13 shutouts
  • The Pioneers are allowing just 0.19 goals per game this season, which is the best defensive mark in the conference
  • TWU is currently undefeated at home with a 6-0-1 record, and the only tie was in their most recent match against the Comets

A WIN ON WEDNESDAY WOULD:
- Be the 148th in Lubbock Christian program history (147-108-41)
- Be the 25th under head coach Alistair Caldwell (24-19-10)
- Be the Lady Chaps'  second-ever win against Texas Woman's since the all-time series began in 2016 (1-3-2)
