UT DALLAS (8-3-1, 4-3-1)
Saturday, October 10 – 1  p.m.

LADY CHAP HEADERS
  • Following back-to-back games at home, Lubbock Christian is headed back out on the road for a matchup at UT Dallas at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the UTD Soccer Complex
  • The Lady Chaps have won three-straight games, matching their longest win streak since 2019, when they won seven straight from Oct. 17 to Nov. 9
  • LCU junior midfielder Journey Curs had three more points on Wednesday, bringing her season total to 14, which is tied for eighth in the LSC
  • With a 5-1-3 league record, the Lady Chaps have 18 points in the LSC standings, putting them in sole possession of fourth place with five games left to play in the regular season
  • LCU has only lost twice through its first 12 matches, matching their best start to a season since 2016, when they did not suffer a third loss until the 16th game of the year

BY THE NUMBERS
Past the halfway point in the 2026 season, the Lady Chaps are having one of the best starts to a season in recent years. LCU already has eight wins, which matches their total from the previous two seasons, which encapsulates the Alistair Caldwell era. If they win one more game this year, it will be the most wins by a Lady Chap team since 2019, when they were 13-5-2. Their average of 2.08 goals per game is also the best since that season, which featured the most wins in program history, and their current goals against average of 0.92 is the best since 2022.

FIRST THINGS FIRST
Lubbock Christian continued their winning ways on Wednesday when they scored the first goal in the game against the Dustdevils. LCU is now 7-0-0 on the season in games in which they score first, including 4-0-0 in games where they lead at halftime. Conversely, they are 1-2-2 in games where their opponent scores first. Their one comeback win this season came at Oklahoma Christian, when the allowed a goal in the sixth minute but came back to win 2-1.

OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
It was two players supplying the offense for the Lady Chaps in Wednesday's contest – Journey Curs and Claire Jacobson. Jacobson assisted Curs in the first half and Curs returned the favor in the second half for the game-winner. Curs leads the team with 14 points, having scored five goals and assisted four others. Another seven LCU players – including Jacobson – have scored at least twice, and 10 Lady Chaps have scored in total. LCU's overall scoring average ranks sixth in the conference. The are shooting 13.9 times per game and have put 49.2 percent of those shots on goal.

THE DEFENSE DOESN'T REST
LCU has a goals against average of just 0.92 this season, which is the sixth-best mark in the LSC. Lady Chap opponents are averaging just 12.3 shots per game and have put 49.4 percent of those shots on goal. Freshman Araceli Patterson has anchored the back line, leading the team with 985 minutes of play in her inaugural collegiate campaign. They have matched their 2025 shutout total with five games still left on the schedule. The last time they had more than five shutouts in a season was 2024, when they had six.

ALL THE WRIGHT PLACES
Senior goalkeeper Emma Wright played a big part in Wednesday's win, making eight saves, which is the second-most she's had in a game this season. Wright, who is the reigning LSC Goalkeeper of the week for the second time this season, has made 59 saves, which ranks fourth in the conference. Her .843 save percentage is the best among league keepers with at least 40 saves. She has faced 146 shots, posting a 0.94 goals against average and recording five shutouts. Wright surpassed the 100-save mark for her career earlier this year and is now up to 157 in 39 collegiate games.

ROAD JOURNAL
The Lady Chaps have lost just once through their first six road games this season, beating Western Colorado, CSU-Pueblo and Oklahoma Christian and UT Permian Basin. Counting Saturday's contest, there are three road games left on the 2026 schedule. LCU went 4-3-1 away from home in 2025, marking the first time they were better than .500 on the road since 2019. The UTD Soccer Complex has seating for 500 fans and features a natural grass playing surface.

SCOUTING THE COMETS
  • The UTD team leader in minutes played, Emma Best, and team leader in shots, Ella Spiller, were both members of the Lady Chaps the last two seasons before transferring
  • Melyna Martinez, also a transfer from Angelo State, has handled every minute in goal for the Comets, making 32 saves with save percentage of .744. She is was the LSC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2025 while with the Rambelles
  • The Comets are averaging 2.250 goals per game, which is the fourth-best mark in the conference
  • Head coach Stephen Shirley is in his fourth season leading the Comets with a record of 37-15-12 during his time at the helm
  • UTD has played just four of their 12 games this season at home, going 2-1-1 there with a loss against St. Mary's

A WIN ON SATURDAY WOULD:
- Be the 148th in Lubbock Christian program history (147-107-40)
- Be the 25th under head coach Alistair Caldwell (24-18-9)
- Be the Lady Chaps' first-ever win against UT Dallas after the all-time series started last year
