DALLAS BAPTIST (12-0-1, 9-0-1)
Saturday, October 17 – 7  p.m.
LCU Soccer & Track Complex – Lubbock, Texas

LADY CHAP HEADERS
  • After a bye on Wednesday, Lubbock Christian University returns to action on Saturday in a big way, hosting No. 1 Dallas Baptist at noon  at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex
  • The Lady Chaps notched their sixth shutout of the season against UT Dallas last week, surpassing their season total from 2025 and matching their most since 2024
  • LCU senior goalkeeper Emma Wright has an .845 save percentage, which leads the conference among net-minders with at least 60 saves on the year
  • With a 5-1-4 league record, the Lady Chaps have 19 points in the LSC standings, putting them in a three-way tie for fourth place with Oklahoma Christian and UT Tyler
  • LCU has only lost twice through its first 13 matches, matching their best start to a season since 2016, when they did not suffer a third loss until the 16th game of the year

TAKING ON THE TOP 25
This is the second time this season that Lubbock Christian will take on an opponent ranked in the top 25. They previously hosted No. 21 Midwestern State on Sept. 23, earning a 1-1 draw against the Mustangs. The last time they played a team that was ranked No. 1 in the country, it was also Dallas Baptist in 2022, and they also fought to a 1-1 draw. That same season, the tied No. 10 West Texas A&M 0-0. LCU's last win against an opponent in the top-25 was also against the Patriots, in 2021. DBU was ranked No. 12, but the Lady Chaps shut them out 1-0 for their first and only win against a ranked opponent.

LOOKING AT THE LONE STAR
With just four games left in the regular season, there is still much to be sorted out in the LSC standings. After Wednesday's draw between Texas Woman's and DBU, there is now a three-way tie atop the league standings between those two school and Midwestern State, although DBU has played one fewer game than the other two. Each team has 28 points. After that, there is another three-way tie for fourth place between the Lady Chaps, Oklahoma Christian and UT Tyler. LCU holds the tiebreaker against OC, but UTT has the tiebreaker over LCU. The top eight teams by points at the end of the regular season will advance to the LSC Postseason Tournament.

THE DEFENSE DOESN'T REST
LCU's shutout of UT Dallas was their sixth of the season, lowering their goals against average to 0.86, which ranks sixth in the conference. The Comets managed just one shot on goal in the game, which was tied for their fewest in a game this year. Lady Chap opponents are averaging just 12.4 shots per game and have put 46.0 percent of those shots on goal. Freshman Araceli Patterson has anchored the back line, leading the team with 1165 minutes of play in her inaugural collegiate campaign. The last time they had more than six shutouts was 2022 when they had eight.

ALL THE WRIGHT PLACES
Senior goalkeeper Emma Wright made the one save required of her against UTD. Wright, who has been named the LSC Goalkeeper of the Week twice this season, has made 60 saves, which ranks seventh in the conference. Her .845 save percentage is the best among league keepers with at least 60 saves. She has faced 160 shots, posting a 0.87 goals against average and recording five shutouts. Wright surpassed the 100-save mark for her career earlier this year and is now up to 158 in 40 collegiate games.

FIRST THINGS FIRST
Lubbock Christian has been at their best this season when they are the first team to find the back of the net. LCU is 7-0-0 on the season in games in which they score first, including 4-0-0 in games where they lead at halftime. Conversely, they are 1-2-2 in games where their opponent scores first. Their one comeback win this season came at Oklahoma Christian, when the allowed a goal in the sixth minute but came back to win 2-1.

WHERE THE HEART IS
Lubbock Christian is currently 4-1-2 at home after going 4-4-1 at the friendly confines last year. Including Saturday's game, they have two home contests left this year. The LCU Soccer & Track Complex was completed in August of 2020 and features an AstroTurf playing surface, a Musco lighting system to allow for night games and stadium seating for 500 fans. LCU's women's team has an all-time record of 74-37-25 all-time in home games. They have only posted losing records at home twice in 15 seasons. They did not lose a home game in 2015 (7-0-2) and won a program-high eight home games in 2019 (8-1-1).

SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
  • DBU has outscored its 2026 opponents by a combined 44 goals, giving them the best goal differential in all of Division II
  • Senior forward Ashley Washburn has scored 13 goals and assisted 11 others, leading the nation with an average of 3.00 goals per game
  • The Patriots have made the NCAA Tournament in each of the last 11 seasons (excluding 2020, when there was none), including an appearance in the elite eight last year
  • Josie Juvera has handled the majority of the goalkeeping for the Patriots, making 16 saves in more than 700 minutes of action
  • DBU has received just one yellow card all year, putting them in a four-way tie for the fewest among Division II teams

A WIN ON SATURDAY WOULD:
- Be the 148th in Lubbock Christian program history (147-107-41)
- Be the 25th under head coach Alistair Caldwell (24-18-10)
- Be the Lady Chaps' third-ever win against Dallas Baptist since the all-time series began in 2013 (2-11-2)
