ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Lubbock Christian broke three school records and set a top-20 national mark in the triple jump on the final day of the NM College Classic.
Kevin Washington demolished his old school record in the triple jump by 0.12 meters, finishing 13
th with a distance of 14.91 meters. That mark is tied for the 16
th best jump in all of Division-II.
Joy Egwu broke her own record in the 60-meter run for the fourth time this season, beating her own record by 0.01 seconds with a time of 7.73 seconds. Egwu has reset the school record three times inside the ABQ Convention Center.
Egwu broke another record later in the evening, as her,
Jozlyn Arana,
Kiley Cummings, and
Reanna Argullin finished 14
th with a time of 3:59.34. They are the first four women to finish the relay in under four minutes in program history.
In the heptathlon,
Thomas McCully finished eighth with 3,930 total points, becoming the first men's runner to compete in the event at the NCAA Division-II level. McCully finished ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.36 seconds, and then finished tied for seventh in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.40 meters. He closed out the heptathlon with a seventh place finish in the 1000 meters run with a time of 3:08.97.
Abigail Jones set a personal best in the shot put with a toss of 12.38 meters, missing the school record mark by just 0.06 meters. Her teammate
Jazmene Duran set a personal best in the event for the second straight meet, recording a toss of 11.90 meters.
Paityn Green also set a new personal best in the shot put with a toss of 10.22 meters.
Nathaniel Luna just missed tying his school record in the 60-meter run by 0.03 seconds, finishing with a time of 6.91 seconds.
Trael Robertson set a new personal best in the event with a time of 6.94 seconds.
Ju'Raylin Shaw also broke his personal best with a time of 7.14 seconds, while
Turner Edwards ran the event for the first time in his career, finishing with a time of 7.65 seconds.
Hagen Sage set a new personal best in the mile, finishing with a time of 4:30.45.
Julia Nelson set a new career-best mark in the 800-meter, finishing the race with a time of 2:29:00, beating her old personal best mark by almost four seconds. Her teammate
Sydney Jones finished right behind her with a personal best time of 2:31.17.
The Chaps will split up for the final time this indoor season, with half of the team returning to Albuquerque for the Don Kirby Invitational, while the rest will stay in Lubbock at Texas Tech to compete at the Jarvis Scott Open.
