ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (February 28, 2026) – The Lubbock Christian University women's track and field team scored 21.5 points and finished in ninth at the 2026 Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The meet was highlighted by a number of school records falling, including the 4X400 relay team, which set a new program-best mark and also ran the fourth-fastest time in all of Division II this season.
Elizabeth Florez,
Joy Egwu,
Kerrigan Huynh and
Jozlyn Arana ran on the team, which placed third with a time of 3:39.36, breaking the program mark set in 2024.

Florez also ran an NCAA provisional time in the 400-meter as an individual, crossing the finish line in 55.49 seconds.

LCU's other relay team also set a record in the distance event. Placing sixth, the distance medley team of
Lily Rodriguez,
Vida Mora, Mia St. Clair and
Olivia Weider broke an eight-year old program mark with a time of 12:34.79.

Weider was able to add more points to the Lady Chap total in the 3000-meter, where she placed sixth with a time of 10:32.61.

The final two LCU records to fall came in field events.
Drew Grellhesl set a new program-best mark in the pole vault at a height of 3.37 meters. And in the triple jump, freshman
Matilda Galvan's leap of 11.23 meters broke the record that she had already set herself earlier this year.

The Chaps who have recorded NCAA provisional marks this season will await invites to the Indoor Track & Field National Championships, which will be March 13-14 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The rest of the team will look toward outdoor season, which kicks off March 20 at the West Texas Relays in Canyon, Texas.
