LCU Must Win Two Games Friday To move Into Championship Round

TYLER, Texas (May 12, 2023) – The Tyler Bracket of the NCAA Division II South Central Regional continues Friday with No.5-seed Lubbock Christian University facing elimination. Their day opens at 3 p.m. facing No.8-seed St. Edward's at Irwin Ballpark.

The Scenario

If LCU defeats St. Edward's, LCU will play again at 6 p.m. against the losing team of Friday's 12 p.m. game pitting No.1-seed No.3 UT Tyler against No.4-seed No.22 Oklahoma Christian.
A loss would eliminate LCU from the tournament and would conclude their 2023 season.

LCU and SEU Series Snapshot

LCU leads the all-time series over SEU, 23-8, winning 12 of the prior 14 encounters.
LCU swept the regular season Lone Star Conference series, defeating the Hilltoppers 7-1 and 4-0 in a doubleheader (Mar. 25) and following with a 5-2 win on Mar. 26 to complete the sweep.

LCU is an at-large team for a second time (joining last season in Tyler), as they received automatic berths in 2016 (San Antonio, Texas) and 2017 (San Angelo, Texas) after winning Heartland Conference Tournament titles.
LCU is 3-7 all-time at the NCAA South Central Regionals (0-1 this season). Last season, LCU went 2-2, winning their first two games to claim a spot in the regional championship round of the tournament, where they fell twice to UT Tyler.
