Two Chaps Recognized on ABCA All-America Teams

Ogilvie Named to First Team, Acosta to Second Team

CARY, N.C. (June 2, 2023) - The 2023 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-America Teams have been released and were announced at the Opening Banquet of the NCAA Div. II College World Series Friday night with Carson Ogilvie recognized on the All-America First Team and Eduardo Acosta earning a spot on the All-America Second Team.
 
Both players were recognized on the ABCA All-Region First Team as well as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-Region First Team. The pair were All-Lone Star Conference First Team selections.
 
Playing in his second season at Lubbock Christian, Ogilvie was a force at the top of the Chaparral lineup, collecting a team-leading 163 total bases and slugging .715 for the year. Of his 92 hits, exactly half went for extra bases, including 29 doubles, nine triples and nine home runs. Two times this season the shortstop hit for the cycle.
 
Ogilvie batted .404 overall with a .502 on-base percentage. He led the LSC with 89 runs scored while driving in another 47 himself. He also led the Chaps in stolen bases with 15. He was named the NCBWA South Central Region Hitter of the Week on May 10.
 
Acosta capped off an excellent Chaparral career with his best season in an LCU uniform. The team-leader in batting average at .434, the Puerto Rico native collected 96 hits, including 15 doubles, three triples and nine home runs. Adding in his 35 walks, he reached base at an incredible .509 clip.
 
He was second on the team in both RBI and in runs scored, with 68 in each category. He also swiped nine bags. Two times this season he was named both the LSC and NCBWA South Central Region Hitter of the Week.
 
Lubbock Christian finished the 2023 season with a 35-23 overall record. They finished fourth in the Lone Star Conference and were the No. 6 seed at the NCAA South Central Regional, their fourth appearance in the tournament in program history.
