Lady Chaps Hit the Road to Take on #9 Dallas Baptist

DALLAS, Texas – The Lubbock Christian University women's soccer team continues conference play with trip to Dallas to take on #9 Dallas Baptist.

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Lady Chaps gave up a late goal to draw 1-1 with UT Permian Basin Wednesday night.
  • Freshman Anna Brandt scored her first career goal in the 66th minute.
  • Goalkeeper Kara Murray made five saves in the match.
LADY CHAPPARAL HEADERS
  • The Lady Chaps are off to a 4-2-3 start and are 1-1-1 in Lone Star Conference play.
  • LCU is averaging 1.67 goals per game on 14.9 shots per game.
  • The Lady Chaps have outscored their opponents 15 to 10 through the first nine games.
  • The LCU defense has allowed 1.11 goals per game on 9.9 shots per game.
  • LCU has taken 134 shots, 59 of which have been on goal.
HOMETOWN HERO
  • Lubbock native Lexi De La Cruz has been one of the best players in the nation this season.
  • She is top-10 in all of Division II in assists, assists per game, and points.
  • She is top-10 in the Lone Star Conference in goals, shots on goal, assists, and points.
  • Lexi has not scored a goal in the first three LSC games but had an assist against St. Mary's on Sept. 23.
 SUPPORTING CAST  FURTHER BACK
  • The Lubbock Christian women's soccer program began in 2010 with a 5-2 loss to UT Permian Basin.
  • On Sept. 2, 2021, they recorded the 100th win in program history, beating New Mexico Highlands 4-1.
  • The Lady Chap program enters the 2023 season with an overall record of 115-84-28.
 THE SERIES WITH DALLAS BAPTIST
  • LCU is 2-9-2 all-time against the Patriots.
  • In 2022 the Lady Chaps and Patriots played to a 1-1 draw.
  • LCU is 1-5 all-time on the road against DBU.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
  • DBU enters the match with a 4-0-2 record and are 1-0-1 in LSC play.
  • Last time out DBU drew 1-1 with UT Tyler.
  • DBU drew 2-2 with #7 Colorado School of Mines on Sept. 10.
  • The Patriots have outscored their opponents 18 to four and average three goals per game.
  • They average 18.7 shots per game and have a .161 shot percentage.
  • The Patriot offense is led by the duo of Taylor Tufts and Michelle Gonzalez.
  • Tufts has scored three goals and has recorded eight assists thus far.
  • Tufts is first in the nation in assists and assists per game. She is first in the LSC in shots, assists, and points.
  • Gonzalez has recorded four goals and two assists in the first six games. She is top-10 in the LSC in points, goals, shots, and shots on goal.
  • 11 different Patriots have scored goals this season.
  • Sophia Schrock and Annie Severide have scored two goals each.
  • Goalkeeper Carmen Lopez has not been tested much this season, only facing 40 shots and making 14 saves.
  • The Patriots are the defending LSC Champions after a 17-2-1 season in 2022.
  • They fell 1-0 to Colorado School of Mines in the NCAA South Central Regional.
  • The Patriots are coached by Marcu Wood who is entering his second season.
