DURANGO, Colo. (October 14, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University concluded the first day of the Nick Turner Invitational tied for second place among six teams. The Lady Chaps posted a score of 312, finishing 24-over-par. They trail New Mexico Junior College, which leads the event with a score of 305 (+17), by seven strokes.
For her second consecutive tournament, Junior
Alexandra Escamilla leads the team, as she shot a 73 and one-over-par. She leads the team with three birdies, which also ranks tied for second place overall.
Following Escamilla in the standings is senior
Anaya Perales, who has yet to rank outside the top-two of the team standings in any tournament this season. Perales ended her day with a score of 78 and +6, which slotted her in a tie for seventh place overall. In her first start of the season, senior
Rianna LaFuente finished third in the Lady Chaps standing, shooting an eight-over-par 80.
Senior
Lily Griffin ranked fourth in the team standings, as she carded a +9 80. This score put her in a tie for 17th following the first round of play. Junior
Alejandra Escobar rounded out the Lady Chaps score card, ending round one with a score of 82 and 10-over-par. In addition, she ranked in a tie for 20th overall.
