OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (October 15, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University heads back on the road Wednesday to take on Oklahoma Christian after a brief stop at home. The Lady Chaps aim to bounce back from a narrow 2-1 defeat to No. 9 Dallas Baptist.

Prior to that loss, LCU had strung together three consecutive shutouts and a four-match unbeaten streak in Lone Star Conference play. With a 5-4-2 overall record and 3-2-1 mark in conference action, LCU currently sits sixth in the standings. The Lady Chaps have also been strong on the road, posting a 2-0-1 record since a 1-0 loss to Metro State of Denver on Sept. 15.
Oklahoma Christian welcomes Lubbock Christian into Edmond boasting a 6-2-3 overall and 2-2-2 Lone Star Conference record. The Eagles sit one spot shy of the Lady Chaps in the conference standings, as they currently rank seventh. In their last match, Oklahoma Christian fell 0-3 on the road to Angelo State, the current leader of the Lone Star.
Lubbock Christian and Oklahoma Christian have a long history together, meeting for their first match on Sept. 29, 2010. Since the inaugural match, LCU has dominated the all-time series, holding the 13-0-2 advantage over the Eagles. In last season's meeting, the Lady Chaps downed OC at home 3-1 on Oct. 4.
Lubbock Christian has been led offensively by three members:
Avery Jennings,
Ella Spiller and
Journey Curs. Jennings and Spiller co-lead the team with four goals each, which ranks ninth and tenth in the Lone Star. In addition, Spiller is the team leader in assists with four and ranks third in the conference. Jennings has three assists of her own, slotting in tenth place of the conference standings. Furthermore, Spiller ranks eighth in the Lone Star in points (12) and Jennings follows closely behind at tenth (11). Curs has a balanced two goals and two assists to support the Lady Chap offense, holding six points on the season. In front of the net, the Lady Chaps have been led by the dynamic duo of
Emma Wright and
Kara Murray. Wright ranks sixth in the Lone Star in goals against average, with a 1.235 average. Wright also ranks sixth in saves with 25. Murray has started the last four games for the Lady Chaps, and she has recorded 13 saves, surrendered only 2 goals and has had three shutouts.
Oklahoma Christian lays claim to one of the best statistical players in the Lone Star Conference, Kyla Lovelace. Lovelace ranks near the top ten in almost every offensive category, with the lone exception being assists. Notably, she is the conference leader in points (19) and goals (9). In addition, she has netted three game-winning goals for the Eagles and ranks third in the conference. Goalkeeper Breanna Wooten has recorded 35 saves for the Eagles, which ranks ninth in the Lone Star. Furthermore, she has two shutouts in the season and ranks tenth in goals against average, with a 1.364 average.
