LUBBOCK, Texas (October 18, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University returns to the LCU Soccer and Track Complex on Saturday to face Texas A&M International. After a 2-0 loss on the road to Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday, the Lady Chaps are looking to get back on track. The Lone Star Conference matchup kicks off at 7 p.m.

Lubbock Christian holds a 5-5-2 overall record, with a 3-3-1 record in Lone Star Conference matches. Following their result on Wednesday, the Lady Chaps lost consecutive games for only the second time this season, with the first coming against No. 1 Colorado School of Mines and Metropolitan State of Denver, who are receiving votes.
Texas A&M Int'l enters the match with a 3-4-5 record overall and 2-2-3 in Lone Star play. The Dustdevils drew with UT Tyler in Tyler on Wednesday. TAMIU has not won a match since Oct. 5, when they defeated visiting West Texas A&M 2-0 in Laredo. In addition, they have struggled on the road, posting a 2-3-5 record away from Laredo.
Lubbock Christian and Texas A&M Int'l have been long-standing opponents throughout the history of both programs. Starting in 2013, the Lady Chaps and Dustdevils have met in 14 matches, with Lubbock Christian having the 12-2 advantage. Furthermore, Lubbock Christian is unbeaten at home, with a 7-0 record in Lubbock. In their last meeting, it was the Dustdevils who won 2-0 in Laredo on Oct. 7, 2023.
The Lady Chaps continue to be led offensively by
Ella Spiller, whose 12 points ranks tenth in the Lone Star Conference. She has recorded four goals and assists in her first career season with Lubbock Christian, which ranks her 11th in goals and third in assists in the Lone Star. Following closely behind Spiller, senior
Avery Jennings has notched 11 points from four goals and three assists. This ranks Jennings at 11th in the conference in points scored and tenth in both goals and assists. The strong play of dual goalkeepers,
Emma Wright and
Kara Murray, has strengthened the Lady Chaps on the defensive front. Wright has recorded 25 saves and allowed seven goals, giving her a 78.1% save percentage. Starting the last four matches, Murray has 16 saves and allowed four goals, resulting in an 80% save percentage. In addition, she has been responsible for all three of the Lady Chap shutouts this season.
The Dustdevils' offensive leader is Krysan St. Louis, who has scored three goals and an assist on the season. Janize Castillo is narrowly behind St. Louis, also recording three goals for TAMIU. In addition, Candela Gonzalez has netted two goals while leading the team in shots on goal with 12. In front of the net, the Dustdevils are led by Claramalia Pederson. Pederson ranks within the top ten of every major statistical category in the conference, as she is seventh in goals against average (1.239), seventh in shutouts per game (3), fifth in saves (40) and second in saves per game (5.71).
