Lady Chaps End Day One in Wichita Falls

Lubbock Christian Inside Top Ten For Fourth Straight Tournament

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (October 21, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University ended their first day of play at the Midwestern State Invitational in 10th place out of 13 competing schools. The Lady Chaps carded a +65 641 through two rounds of play at the Wichita Falls Country Club. St. Mary's led after day one with a score of 595 and 19-over-par.

The Lady Chaps were led by Alexandra Escamilla, who is fresh off a runner-up finish at the CSU Pueblo Fall Invite and is the reigning Lone Star Conference Women's Golfer of the Week. Escamilla completed her day with a score of 157 and 13-over-par over two rounds. The score slotted her in a tie for 30th individually. In addition, she recorded the only eagle of the day for Lubbock Christian, as she was able to complete par-5 hole 6 in only three strokes in round two.

Following Escamilla in the team standings was Alejandra Escobar. Escobar finished day one scoring a +15 159 and ranked in a tie for 42nd overall. Escobar leads the Lady Chaps with four birdies, with three of them coming in round two. Anaya Perales also finished her day tied with a score of +15 159, which tied her with Escobar and 42nd place individually.

In her second tournament with the Lady Chaps, Rianna LaFuente ended her day carding 166 and 22-over-par, slotting her in 57th place. Ending the team standings was Kyra Schmuhl, who recorded a score of a +27 171.

The Lady Chaps will look to rally, as they did in their last tournament, and record their second straight tournament victory. Throughout three tournaments, Lubbock Christian has yet to finish outside of the top two in team standings and has had a top three individual finisher in each tournament.
