SAN ANTONIO, Texas (October 5, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University heads to San Antonio for a Lone Star Conference matchup against St. Mary's. After a tough loss in their conference opener to Midwestern State, the Lady Chaps have bounced back with two strong victories, including a 5-0 shutout over Eastern New Mexico at home. The host Rattlers come into the match holding an identical 4-3-1 record with a 2-1-0 conference record as well. However, St. Mary's is coming off a 3-0 loss to UT-Tyler on the road. Before suffering their first loss, St. Mary's secured impressive wins over Sul Ross State and West Texas A&M, combining for 9 goals.

St. Mary's and LCU are longtime conference foes, beginning their all-time series back in 2010. Since then, there has been 17 total meeting between the Rattlers and Lady Chaps, with LCU holding the slight 8-6-3 advantage. However, the Rattlers have the edge recently, posting a 3-0-1 record in the last four matches. Lubbock Christian has not defeated St. Mary's since March 31, 2021, in Lubbock (last win in San Antonio was Oct. 13, 2018 and LCU is 2-2-2 all-time at StMU).

LCU is led offensively by freshman Ella Spiller, whose three assists is good for fifth place in the Lone Star Conference and holds the team leading number of goals with three. The Lady Chaps are also supported by Journey Curs and Avery Jennings, who each sport a two goal and two assist resume thus far. Collectively, LCU has 11 unique goal scorers, with only three multi-goal scorers on the year. Defensively, goalkeeper Emma Wright should return in front of the net, as she boasts a 78.1% save percentage after starting all but one game for the Lady Chaps this season. She will also be vying for her first shutout on the season.

The Rattlers and Lady Chaps will have first touch at approximately 1 p.m from Sigma Beta Chi Field in San Antonio. FloSports will be carrying the match online and it can be viewed at lcuchaps.com/live.
