Five Chaparrals Recognized with LSC All-Conference Honors

Three Third-Team Selections Lead Team

SAN ANGELO, Texas (November 14, 2024) -- Lubbock Christian University had five of their men's soccer athletes recognized Thursday at the Lone Star Conference championship banquet in San Angelo. The Chaparrals had three selections to the All-Conference Third Team, the most of any school. Furthermore, there were two Chaparrals honored as members of the All-Academic team and one selection to the All-Freshman team.

Three Chaparrals were appointed to the All-Confernce Third Team, Geoffroy Letienne, Justin Martinez and Manu Nunez. Letienne started all 17 matches for Lubbock Christian this season, scoring three goals for a total of six points on the year. Martinez appeared in 17 games and started 13 of them in his freshman season. Martinez led Lubbock Christian with six goals and added two assists, which resulted in a point total of 14. Martinez's six goals ranked ninth in the Lone Star Conference and his 14 points placed him at tenth within the conference. In addition to a spot on the All-Conference Third Team, Martinez earned a selection to the Lone Star Conference All-Freshman team. Nunez appeared in 16 games and started 14 of them for Lubbock Christian. He led the Chaparrals with four assists, which ranked seventh in the Lone Star Conference.

In addition to the All-Conference selections, Lubbock Christian had two members honored on the Lone Star Conference All-Academic team, Connor Pettigrew and Saimon Gjeci. Pettigrew started all 17 matches as goalkeeper for Lubbock Christian this season. He had 68 saves and a 72.3% save percentage, which ranked ninth in the conference, and ended with a 6-6-5 record. In the classroom, Pettigrew had a 3.90 GPA while studying Accounting. Gjeci played in 15 matches, getting the start in five. He contributed two goals for the Chaparrals and ended the season with four points. The senior from Brescia, Italy recorded a 4.00 GPA this semester studying Management.
