Lady Chaps Notch Seven Selections for LSC All-Conference Teams

Four Freshman Named to All-Freshman Team

SAN ANGELO, Texas (November 14, 2024) -- Lubbock Christian University had seven honorees for Lone Star Conference All-Conference teams at the championship banquet Thursday in San Angelo. The Lady Chaps had two selections to the All-Conference Second Team, one to the All-Conference Third Team, four to the All-Freshman team and two on the All-Academic team. With their seven selections, Lubbock Christian had the third most in the Lone Star Conference, behind Angelo State and Dallas Baptist.

Lubbock Christian had two selections to the All-Conference Second Team, Emma Best and Ella Spiller. Best started all 18 matches for the Lady Chaps this season and contributed two assists for a total of two points. Spiller co-led the Lady Chaps in goals with five, while starting all 18 matches in her freshman season. In addition, Spiller had a team leading seven assists, bringing her season point total to 17. Her stats in goals, assists and points ranked within the conference, as she was 17th in goals, third in assists and tenth in points. Spiller was also named to the All-Freshman team for her efforts in her inaugural season.

Journey Curs was the lone Lubbock Christian honoree for the All-Conference Third Team. The freshman from Burleson appeared in all 18 matches for the Lady Chaps, starting in 17. Curs contributed three goals and four assists to the Lady Chaps, ending her first season with 10 points. In addition, her four assists ranked 15th in the Lone Star Conference. Along with Spiller, Curs was also named to the All-Freshman team, the only two Lady Chaps to make two All-Conference teams.

Two additional Lady Chaps joined Curs and Spiller on the All-Freshman Team, McKenzie Jost and Bonnie Miller. Jost played in all 18 matches for Lubbock Christian, getting the start in 15. She had one goal and one assist in her first season of play, totaling two points. Miller also played all 18 games for the Lady Chaps and started 16 of them. As a defender, Miller netted two goals and provided two assists, ending her rookie campaign with a point total of six. 

Rounding out the awards, Lubbock Christian had two players recognized on the All-Academic team. Claire Jacobson and Olivia Weider represented the Lady Chaps, bringing the total number of honorees to seven. Jacobson appeared in 14 matches and started 10 for Lubbock Christian. The sophomore from Hurst tallied three goals and an assist, while also garnering a Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week award this season. Academically, Jacobson posted a 4.00 GPA while studying Marketing. Weider played in 13 games for the Lady Chaps this season, recording one goal and ending with two points. The senior from Henndorf, Austria had a 4.00 GPA in her studies toward a degree in Sport Management.
