Â
FIVE THINGS TO FOCUS ON
1 | Three Chaparrals finished in double-figures in Friday's dominant win, led by
Ty Caswell with 18. It is the most points Caswell has scored in a game since Feb. 29, 2020 when he scored 20 against Western New Mexico – his freshman year.
2 | Lubbock Christian is trying to start the season 2-0 for the first time since the 2021-22 season, when they won their first 20 games of the year. Each of the last two seasons, the Chaps have split their opening weekend games.
3 | This will be St. Cloud State's first game of the 2024-25 season. The Huskies were picked to finish ninth in the NSIC preseason poll. They finish last season 12-17 overall and 8-14 in conference play.
4 | The Chaps held the Griffons to 27.8 percent shooting (15-54) on Friday. It was the lowest field goal percentage in a single game for a Lubbock Christian opponent since January 22, 2021, when they held Texas A&M International to 23.5 percent shooting (12-51).
5 | Lubbock Christian got roughly 41 percent of their 88 points in the season-opening game from newcomers.
Amondo Miller Jr. scored 16 points to lead the newcomers, while
Alex Anamekwe and
Jaylen Thompson added in seven apiece. Thompson also led the Chaps in rebounding with seven.
