The Lady Chaps are riding momentum from consecutive 1-0 road wins over Sul Ross State and UT Tyler, aiming to complete a sweep of their away games. With an overall record of 8-5-3 and a 6-3-2 mark in Lone Star Conference play, Lubbock Christian currently sits tied for fourth in the conference standings with St. Mary's. They hold a 4-3-1 record on the road and remain unbeaten in their last two matches away from Lubbock.
Angelo State leads the Lone Star Conference with a 9-1-5 overall record and an impressive unbeaten 7-0-3 mark in conference play. Currently receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll, the Rambelles haven't lost since September 12, when they were defeated 2-0 by Central Oklahoma in Edmond. They remain undefeated at home with a 5-0-2 record. Their last match, scheduled for Friday against Sul Ross State, was canceled due to weather conditions.
Since 2019, the Lady Chaps and Rambelles have met in seven matches. Angelo State has the dominant 6-0-1 advantage in the series. Angelo State has won the last five meetings, with the Rambelles posting shutouts in their last four matches (LCU's last goal against ASU came February 27, 2021).
Ella Spiller remains the leading offensive player for the Lady Chaps, contributing 17 points this season, which ranks her seventh in the Lone Star Conference. She is also tied with Avery Jennings for the team lead in goals, with both players scoring five times this year. Jennings and Spiller are positioned 12th and 13th, respectively, in the Lone Star for goals scored. Additionally, Spiller leads the conference in assists, tallying seven this season. Lubbock Christian has been utilizing a rotation of goalkeepers, with Megan Mirabal starting the last four matches. During this stretch, she has conceded three goals while making 10 saves. Notably, Mirabal has achieved back-to-back shutouts in her last two starts and remains unbeaten in all her appearances this season.
The Rambelles are led offensively by Abby James, who has three goals and an assist for Angelo State this season. Madison Maxey contributed two goals and three assists for the Rambelles, and her seven points ties her for first on the team.
