After Meeting The Prior Five Times In Lubbock, LCU Heads to Alamo City For First Time Since 2021

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (March 8, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University travels to St. Mary's Friday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader, as the two teams open a three-game Lone Star Conference series at St. Mary's Softball Stadium.

 LCU and StMU Series Snapshot
  • With wins in eight of the prior 10 meetings, including the last four, LCU and StMU are even at 21-21 in the all-time series.
  • LCU is 7-16 all-time against StMU in San Antonio, winning two of their last three games there. The Lady Chaps won their prior game in San Antonio 3-2, which was back on Apr. 24, 2021 (previous five meetings and seven of the last nine have been in Lubbock).

  • Returning All-Region selection and three-time All-Conference selection Skylar Herrera leads LCU in home runs with five, which has her ranking second in the LSC with a pace of 0.33 home runs per game. She wrapped up the TAMUK series with a two-homer game Sunday. Herrera ranks ninth actively in career home runs with 38. She also ranks 11th in RBI with 157 and seventh in total bases (375).

  • LCU head coach Daren Hays is in his 14th season at the helm of the Lady Chaps.
  • Hays is LCU's winningest softball head coach, entering Tuesday with a softball record of 536-183.
  • Along with surpassing 500 coaching wins in softball, Hays had surpassed 300 wins as a collegiate baseball head coach. He spent eight seasons as the LCU baseball head coach and compiled a 356-163 record. Combine the two sports and Hays has coached in 1,235 total games at LCU.
