| By:
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lubbock Christian University women's soccer team travels to colorful Colorado for their first road test of the season as they battle No. 6 Colorado School of Mines on Thursday night.

Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. at Stermole Soccer Stadium and will be streamed live on the RMAC Digital Network.

Notes:
  • The Lady Chaps opened the 2024 season with a 1-1 draw against Fort Lewis Thursday night (Sept. 5). After a scoreless 52 minutes, Emma Best looped a pass into the penalty box that Ella Spiller corralled and poked past the goalkeeper to give the Lady Chaps a 1-0 lead. This was the first goal of Spiller's collegiate career.
  • On Saturday (Sept. 7), LCU secured the first win under head coach Alistair Caldwell beating Adams State 2-0. Avery Jennings and Ceci Madrid scored in the victory.
  • Sophomore Emma Wright started both matches in goal last week, tallying eight saves on 21 shots faced.
  • Head Coach Alistair Caldwell enters his first season at the helm of the Lady Chaps. Prior to being hired on April 8, Caldwell was the Head Coach at Lubbock's Coronado High School. In a little over seven years at the helm, Caldwell led the program to five District titles and four Regional Tournament appearances. With the girl's program, he finished with a 145-37-14 overall record. Joining him on the sidelines are assistant coaches Houston Fralick and Joao Souza.
  • Lubbock Christian is coming off a 7-7-3 season in 2023, dropping three of their last four games. The Lady Chaps return three of their top four point scorers from last season in De La Cruz (24 points), Evie Rodriguez (five points), and Avery Jennings (four points).
  • LCU will feature 11 new players on the 2024 roster, all of which are true freshmen.
  • The Lady Chaps were picked to finish eighth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll.
  • Thursday will be the first meeting all-time between the Lady Chaps and Orediggers.
 Scouting Colorado School of Mines:
  • The Orediggers enter the match ranked number six in the United Soccer Coaches National poll. Mines is 2-0 on the season after wins over San Francisco State (1-0) and Chico State (2-1) last week.
  • Three different Orediggers have scored goals this season as Ava Harman, Reese McDermott, and Natalie Rouse found the back of the net in week one.
  • Goalkeeper Sadie Wolf started both games last week. She faced 12 shots and made five saves.
  • In 2024, Mines finished the season with a 15-4-3 overall record and fell in the opening round of the NCAA tournament to Colorado Mesa.
  • Reese McDermott is the reigning RMAC Player of the Year.
  • The Orediggers were picked to win the RMAC in the preseason poll.
  • Adams State is coached by Kevin Fickes who is in his 15th season at the helm. He owns a 226-41-38 overall record at Mines.

 A Win Would:
  • Bring LCU's season record to 2-0-1.
  • Give the Lady Chaps their 123rd win in program history.
  • Be the second win in the Coach Caldwell era.
