LUBBOCK, Texas (January 18, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University opened their 2025 Track & Field season with a strong performance at the Corky Classic.
The Lady Chaps were headlined by
Amy Tew, who placed tenth in the 3000-meter dash. She recorded a time of 11:17.09, which was a minute shy of the LCU record of 10:16.85 held by Amira Cunningham. The women's 4x400 relay consisting of
Elizabeth Florez,
Jozlyn Arana,
Joy Egwu and
Anne-Lie Waite finished 19th, with a time of 3:54.06 and tied Lubbock Christian's best group finish of the weekend. Egwu had a standout day of her own, finishing 76th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.90 and 52nd in the 200-meter dash.
The Chaparrals' best finisher was
Nathaniel Luna, continuing where he left off in the 2024 season. He finished 30th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.82, narrowly behind the current record of 6.70 held by Luna.

Evaldo Whitehorne and
Daniel Sianez made up the 4x400 relay, placing 19th with a time of 3:15.42, which tied the team's best group finish.
Preston Neumeier had the best finish in field events for the Chaparrals, as the freshman had a length of 6.74m in the long jump.
Lubbock Christian will continue their 2025 campaign next week, attending two meets on Jan. 24 and 25. They will participate in the Red Raider Invite, hosted by Texas Tech, and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational, hosted by University of New Mexico.
