FIVE FACTS ABOUT COLORADO CHRISTIAN
1 > Colorado Christian opens its 2025–26 season with Carissa Ratliff officially at the helm after serving as interim head coach last year. Ratliff led CCU to several competitive performances in 2024–25, including three All–RMAC Honorable Mention selections, earning the confidence of the athletic department to guide the program long-term. She previously served as a CCU assistant from 2019–21 and now begins her first full season shaping the Cougars' rebuild.
2 > The Cougars enter the year projected 10th in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 75 points, reflecting both the depth of the league and CCU's transitional roster. Last season, the RMAC featured elite defensive teams at the top, and Colorado Christian will look to climb the ladder behind Ratliff's full-year structure and several returning contributors.
3 > Friday's game serves as the season opener for the Cougars, who dropped an 81-26 exhibition decision at Colorado State. They last opened their season against LCU on Nov. 10, 2023 and Friday marks the fourth time since the 2021-22 season opener in which CCU opened their season against LCU.
4 > The Cougars return several of their top scorers from last season, including sophomore guard Elise Grosdidier (8.9 ppg, .418 FG%), sophomore forward Hayley Luther (7.0 ppg), and versatile guard/forward Josie Grosdidier (3.8 ppg in 16 minutes per game). CCU graduated or lost several double-figure scorers, but the Grosdidier sisters and Luther give Ratliff a proven, experienced nucleus.
5 > CCU's roster features a blend of returners and newcomers, highlighted by added size in 6-foot forwards Elise and Josie Grosdidier and incoming 6-foot freshman Addison Wragge. At the guard positions, the Cougars inject new depth with freshmen Nicole Burns, Maley Wilhelm, and Ezra Simonich, along with junior transfer Angelina Kohlwaies and UTRGV transfer Ja'Shelle Johnson.
THE SERIES AGAINST CCU
LCU and Colorado Christian have met five prior times (LCU leads the series 4-1), with four meetings since the 2021-22 season. The head-to-head history dates back to an invitational hosted by Colorado Christian on Dec. 3-4, 1993, where the two teams met on Dec. 4, 1993 (Colorado Christian winning 72-55). Last season, LCU claimed a 66-52 win over CCU in Tyler, Texas, which was the first neutral site meeting between the two programs.
