LCU Closes Out Weekend Against Regis

Chaps Looking for Fourth-Straight Win to Start Season

11.15.2025

NO. 25 LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (3-0) vs.
REGIS (0-1)
Sunday, Nov. 16 – 3 p.m.
Rip Griffin Center – Lubbock, Texas

TIPOFF
After a win on Friday against No. 10 Colorado School of Mines, Lubbock Christian will return to the hardwood and close out their brief homestand with a matchup against Regis. The Chaps are undefeated on the young season, winning three straight to start for the first time since the 2021-22 season. Friday's win was the closest of the season so far, with the Orediggers making a late surge, but came away with the five-point victory.

FIVE THINGS TO FOCUS ON
1 | The Chaps have out-rebounded their opponent in all three games so far this season. Last season, they led in rebounding 19 times in 31 total games, going 18-1 in those contests. Antonio Pusateri is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 11.0 per game, and has two double-doubles already.
2 | Five LCU players finished in double-figures on Friday, led by Kendall Dow's 15 points. It was just the third time in Dow's four-year Chaparral career that he has led the team in scoring. The San Antonio native has started all three games this season and is shooting a scorching 63.6 from the field, including 75.0 percent from behind the arc.
3 | Lubbock Christian has been much better in the first half of games than they have in the second so far this year. In the three contests combined, they have out-scored opponents by an average margin of 17.7 points in the first 20 minutes and only 5.7 points in the final 20 minutes. Furthermore, they are shooting 50 percent on three-pointers in the first half and only 37.5 percent on those shots in the second half.
4 | Friday night's game was basically won at the free throw line, as the Chaps hit 14 of their 16 attempts, while Mines only went 50 percent from the line. Overall, LCU is shooting 73.9 percent on free throws this season.
5 | It's still early in the season, with varying numbers of games played by different league teams, but the Chaps are currently second in the league in assists per game with 15.33. Five different LCU players have at least five assists already this year.

SCOUTING THE RANGERS
  • Regis has not played a game yet this season and will open play for 2024-25 on Friday night at St. Mary's
  • The Rangers were picked 14th in the RMAC Preseason Poll after placing second last season and making a trip to the NCAA Tournament
  • Former head coach Brady Bergeson left in June to take the head coaching job at Cal State San Marcos
  • Rex Walters was named the new head coach of Regis in August after a successful collegiate (Kansas) and professional playing career and a coaching career that included stops at the University of San Francisco and the G-League Grand Rapids Drive
  • RU lost its top eight minutes leaders from last season's RMAC runner-up team

THE SERIES WITH THE RANGERS
Lubbock Christian and Regis have met nine times overall since the series began back in 2015, with LCU leading 5-4. The Chaps lost last year's matchup on a night where the Rangers shot 61.1 percent from the field, despite 25 points from Ethan Duncan. The RU victory snapped a three-game winning streak for LCU in the series.
