SUCCESS IN THE CENTENNIAL STATE
Lubbock Christian University returned from Colorado with its unbeaten record intact, sweeping both games at the South Central Region Crossover in Pueblo to move to 4–0 and extend its road winning streak to 11 straight. The Lady Chaps opened the weekend with a 63–53 win over Colorado Christian, fueled by a historic all-around performance from
Kennedy Chappell, who posted 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals—becoming just the second player in LCU's NCAA era to reach that versatile stat line. LCU outscored CCU 35–25 after halftime and overcame its third straight 9-plus-point deficit thanks to a decisive 17–12 third quarter and contributions from freshmen
Meg Meekins and
Raegan Lee.
Two days later, LCU clamped down defensively in a 61–42 victory over CSU Pueblo, holding the ThunderWolves to 28% shooting and 0-for-11 in a suffocating third quarter that swung the game.
Martie McCoy matched her career high with 16 points after dishing a career-best eight assists Friday, while Chappell added her fourth straight double-figure effort. Fifteen players saw action as LCU shot a season-best 50% and controlled the game wire-to-wire, completing a dominant Colorado sweep behind overwhelming second-half surges and balanced depth across the rotation.
CHAP-TIVATING STATS: 5 LADY CHAP FACTS
1 > Elites in ball security.
LCU leads the Lone Star Conference and ranks 23rd nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.11), powered by two of the league's top four individual A/T performers:
Martie McCoy (LSC No.1, 2.29) and
Kennedy Chappell (LSC No.4, 1.40). The Lady Chaps also commit the fewest turnovers per game in the conference (13.8), helping them control pace and close out second-half surges in all four wins.
2 > Balanced, efficient scoring.
Behind a 44.0% field-goal mark—third in the LSC and top-50 nationally—the Chaps have posted back-to-back games above 50% inside the arc. Chappell (56.8%) and
Kimber Mathews (62.5%) both rank top-3 in the league in shooting efficiency, fueling an offense hitting 8.3 threes per game (LSC No.3).
3 > Second-half knockout team.
LCU has outscored opponents by +40 after halftime across its four wins, including dominant third quarters (+38 total). In Pueblo, the Lady Chaps held CSU Pueblo 0-for-11 in the third and outscored Colorado Christian 35–25 in the second half.
4 > Chappell's all-around dominance.
Chappell ranks top-5 in the LSC in scoring (17.0 ppg), assists (5.3 apg), steals (2.0 spg) and minutes (36.5 mpg), while also sitting third in the league in FG%. She is one of only two players in LCU's NCAA era to post a line consisting of 20+points, 7+rebounds, 6+assists, and 3+steals, as she produced that line in Pueblo against CCU.
5 > Three-point threats everywhere.
Freshman
Meg Meekins is already one of the league's top perimeter weapons, ranking LSC No.2 in attempts (25) and No.3 in makes (9) while shooting 36%. LCU sits third in the conference in threes per game (8.3) and second in attempts, giving the Chaps elite spacing around their high-efficiency interior attack.
