LUBBOCK, Texas (February 16, 2025) – Riding a 10-game win streak, Lubbock Christian University wraps up its opening weekend of Lone Star Conference play by hosting No.20 Oklahoma Christian University for a 1 p.m. conference doubleheader Sunday at Maner Park.

LCU and OC Series Snapshot
  • Lubbock Christian holds a 38-26 advantage in the all-time series against Oklahoma Christian. The 64 all-time meetings marks the most for LCU against any other opponent.
  • OC has had the upper hand recently, winning 10 of the last 12 meetings, including a 4-0 victory in their most recent matchup on Feb. 17, 2024. The wind chill was at 14 degrees in that contest at Maner Park.
  • LCU snapped a seven-game losing streak to OC with a 6-0 win on Feb. 16, 2024. It was the lone win of a three-game LSC series last season in Lubbock.

  • Lubbock Christian softball is off to a red-hot 11-1 start, riding a 10-game win streak and a perfect 7-0 home record. After an early loss, the Lady Chaps dominated opponents, including key wins over Valdosta State, Cameron, and UTPB. Their offense has been explosive, highlighted by a 15-6 rout of Cameron, while their pitching has been stellar.
  • Lubbock Christian's offense continues to dominate, batting .375 as a team while outscoring opponents 107-36 through 12 games.
  • Baylea Myers leads the offense with a .500 batting average, along with 15 RBIs and a .816 slugging percentage. Kawehi Ili follows closely, hitting .429 with 14 RBIs and a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases.
  • Pitching remains a strong point, posting a 1.96 ERA, with Kendall Ward (2-0, 0.00 ERA) yet to allow an earned run in 14.1 innings. The staff has struck out 77 batters while holding opponents to a .248 batting average.

  • LCU head coach Daren Hays is in his 15th season at the helm of the Lady Chaps.
  • Hays is LCU's winningest softball head coach, entering Sunday with a softball record of 563-197.
  • Along with surpassing 550 coaching wins in softball, Hays had surpassed 300 wins as a collegiate baseball head coach. He spent eight seasons as the LCU baseball head coach and compiled a 356-163 record. Combine the two sports and Hays has coached in 1,231 total games at LCU. 
 
Looking at OC
  • Oklahoma Christian opened 7-1, including a perfect 4-0 home record, before dropping both Lone Star Conference games at Angelo State (fell 4-0 and 3-2 Friday in San Angelo, Texas).
  • Marti Yaerger paces OC with a .407 average, collecting 11 hits and a team-best .514 on-base percentage. She also leads the team in stolen bases (4-for-6) and has 79 putouts defensively.
  • Maci George is making her hits count, leading the team with five doubles and a .556 slugging percentage while driving in eight runs.
  • Kate Paulsen is one of just three Eagles to homer this season. She boasts a .542 slugging percentage with seven hits, including a triple and a home run.
  • The Eagles have held opponents to a .241 batting average, allowing just 29 runs across 10 games while forcing 77 strikeouts.
