ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (February 16, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University finished their stint at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational with new records in their books.
Freshman
Annabell Phillips added her name to LCU history in her first season, setting a record in the 60-meter hurdles. She recorded a time of 9.79, which passed the previous mark of 9.94 set in 2022. Phillips had another strong showing the high jump, as she narrowly missed the record mark of 1.62m, with a height of 1.52m.
In addition to Phillips' record performance,
Abigail Jones broke her personal and school record in of 15.09m in the weight throw. She passed her previous mark with a new length of 15.43m, as she finished 20th overall in the event.
For the Chaparrals, Freshman
Preston Neumeier fell shy of breaking the current record of 7.07 in the long jump, with a length of 7.06m. He was the top finisher in his flight and finished 15th overall. As a result, Neumeier was the best Chaparral finisher of the weekend.
Sophomore
Kole Carrasco highlighted the track events for the Chaparrals, recording the best time in the 60-meter and 200-meter dash for Lubbock Christian. He finished with times of 7.27 and 22.81, respectively.
Lubbock Christian will look to make more history in Albuquerque, as the Chaparrals and Lady Chaps will return for the 2025 Lone Star Conference Track & Field Championships this upcoming weekend.
