LAREDO, Texas (February 3, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University completed the first round of play at the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational in fifth place, with a score of +43 and 331.
Anaya Perales led the team in day one, finishing eighth individually with a score of six-over-par. She ended tied for seventh in birdies, netting two over 18 holes, which led the Lady Chaps. In addition, Perales ranked tied for fourth in pars, with ten on the day, again leading the Lubbock Christian team. To compliment her strong offensive play, she was able to limit mistakes by recording only four bogeys, which was tied for the second-least through round one.
Alexandra Escamilla and
Alejandra Escobar finished tied with scores of 84 and 12-over-par, landing them in 25th and 26th place individually. Escamilla had six pars in round one, ranking second on the team. The pair each notched a birdie, boosting their opening performances.
The final team competitor was
Lily Griffin, who finished 28th overall with a score of +13. Alongside Escamilla, Griffin recorded six pars in her opening round. In addition, she had the second lowest bogey total on the team, with eight through the first 18 holes.
Despite not counting toward team scoring,
Rianna LaFuente competed and ended with a score of 90 and +18. She had strong consistency in her first round, tying Perales with the lowest bogey total of any Lady Chap.
In addition to LaFuente, several Lady Chaps participated as individuals.

Hailey Ashcraft,
Kyra Schmuhl and
Jordyn Hall all saw time on the course, which was the first time this season for some. Schmuhl was especially notable, as she ended her day ranked 24th individually, which was the second highest standing for any Lady Chap. Furthermore, she tied Perales' two birdies to also lead all LCU competitors in the category.
The Lady Chaps will look to build upon their season opening round and move up the standings in the final day of competition tomorrow.
