LAREDO, Texas (February 4, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University wrapped up their first Spring tournament with a fifth-place finish at the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational. The Lady Chaps had a final score of 653 and 77-over-par.
Anaya Perales went wire-to-wire in the team standings, securing her second top-team finish this season and her first since the RJGA Shootout at Estrella in September. She carded a two-round score of 156 and 12-over-par, which slotted her in seventh place individually. Much like her previous top-team finish, Perales was boosted by her par play, netting 23 through two rounds. That number was the most of any Lady Chap and was tied for fourth most overall.
Following Perales in the team standings was
Alexandra Escamilla, who finished with a score of 163 and 19-over-par. This score put her in 21st place overall. Escamilla saw a five-stroke improvement between rounds, allowing her to continue her season-long streak of top two team finishes. In addition, she led the Lady Chaps in birdies, sinking three across both days of play.
Placing third amongst the Lady Chaps,
Alejandra Escobar finished 23rd overall with a score of 164 and 20-over-par. Finally,
Lily Griffin ranked 30
th and rounded out the team standings, scoring 171 and 27-over-par.
Rianna LaFuente competed as a member of the team, but did not have her score counted toward Lubbock Christian's total. She ended the tournament with a final ranking of 35th and scored a 175 and 31-over-par.
Apart from the team competitors, Lubbock Christian had several individuals who participated in the tournament.
Jordyn Hall finished 27th overall with a score of 169 and 25-over-par. Tied with Hall,
Maryona Lusk ended her first action as a Lady Chap in 28th place.
Kyra Schmuhl completed the tournament in 33rd place and carded a 172 and 28-over-par.
Hailey Ashcraft was the final individual, as she ended her first tournament with LCU in 37th place with a score of 193 and 49-over-par.
Lubbock Christian will continue to move through their Spring schedule, with sights set on postseason play. The Lady Chaps will have a short break before returning to action on February 24 at the Rattler Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
