Neumeier, Jones, Egwu and Luna Highlight LCU Roster Before Season Begins This Weekend

RICHARDSON, Texas (March 19, 2025) – The Lone Star Conference released its preseason Outdoor Track & Field Athletes to Watch, with Lubbock Christian University having four members named to the list.

First, Preston Neumeier and Abigail Jones were the field athletes chosen to represent LCU. Both had stellar indoor seasons early this Spring, complete with medalist finishes and broken records throughout the season. Neumeier captured a silver medal finish at the LSC Indoor Track & Field Championships, while setting the new indoor long jump record at 7.21m.

In addition, Jones is in her final season with the Lady Chaps and set the indoor record for the weight throw at 15.64m this season. She will transition to the hammer throw during the outdoor season, while looking to capture the same success.

Following the field selections, Joy Egwu and Nathaniel Luna were honored as the track athletes for Lubbock Christian. Egwu is coming off an LSC All-Conference indoor season, being named to the All-Conference Third Team for her contributions in the 60-meter, 200-meter and 4x400 relay. Egwu missed last year's outdoor season and is looking to make a strong impact in her return to action.

Luna qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships last season, finishing 18th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.50. He is seeking a repeat return to the national stage in his Junior season, while competing in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. Furthermore, Luna was also selected to the preseason Indoor Track & Field Athletes to Watch list this season, marking him as the only Lubbock Christian athlete to be named to both.

Lubbock Christian will begin their outdoor campaign this weekend when they make the short trip north on Interstate-27 to Canyon for the West Texas Relays, hosted by West Texas A&M. Field events will be held on Friday, March 21 and track athletes will get their start Saturday, March 22.
