Lubbock Christian Has Highest Finish of Spring Season in Stellar Showing

FORT SMITH, Ark. (March 25, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University finished the UAFS Hardscrabble Invitational in a tie for second place. The Lady Chaps climbed the leaderboard for their best ranking since winning the Nick Turner Invitational in October, as they had a total score of 918 and 78-over-par. In an impressive showing, Lubbock Christian was only bested by Henderson State and Midwestern State, both of which are nationally ranked in Division II.

Anaya Perales continued a dominant stretch, as she claimed her third consecutive and fourth overall top-team finish of the season. She finished eighth overall with a score of 227 and 17-over-par. In addition, Perales was top three in birdies across the entire tournament field, with eight over three rounds of play.

Alexandra Escamilla followed Perales in the standings, as she carded a +19 229 over the two-day span. Escamilla was highlighted by strong par 3 play and a high number of pars, as she ranked 10th and third in those categories respectively. Furthermore, her 32 pars were the most of any Lady Chap in the field. As an individual, she finished tied for 17th.

Alejandra Escobar ended her tournament appearance with a final score of 231 and 21-over-par. She showed prowess on par 5 holes, with a 4.89 average and -1 score across the tournament. Overall, she ranked in a tie for 22nd place.

The final Lady Chaps finishers were deadlocked after the final round, with Rianna LaFuente and Lily Griffin sporting identical +32 242 scorecards. LaFuente had a strong outing for Lubbock Christian, as she sank six birdies for the second most on the team and was the best par 5 scorer of the tournament for LCU. The duo finished tied for 41st place.

Lubbock Christian will head west for the next tournament, taking part in the WT Desert Invitational next Monday and Tuesday. West Texas A&M will serve as the host institution, despite the tournament being held at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon in Tuscon, Ariz. The Lady Chaps will look to keep their momentum when they tee off March 31.
