Lubbock Christian Seeks to End Road Trip on a High Note at UTPB

ODESSA, Texas (March 30, 2025) – The Lady Chaparrals look to close out their eight-game road trip on a high note Sunday at Falcon Field. Lubbock Christian University, currently 1-5 on the trip, will face Texas-Permian Basin (UTPB) in a Lone Star Conference West Division doubleheader beginning at noon.

LCU and UTPB Series Snapshot
  • Lubbock Christian holds a perfect 37-0 all-time record against Texas-Permian Basin.

Despite their inconsistency, they have secured big wins over St. Edward's, St. Mary's, and Texas Woman's while showcasing offensive firepower in high-scoring victories.   • Despite a tough season, UT Permian Basin (6-30, 1-25 LSC) has shown resilience, especially at home, where five of its six wins have come. The Falcons opened with a four-game sweep of Schreiner and a dominant 16-5 win over Southwest. However, they've struggled in Lone Star Conference play, sitting at the bottom of the West Division standings and seeking to end a 15-game losing streak.
  • Keri Sanford has been the clear leader at the plate for UT Permian Basin, boasting a .384 batting average while driving in 11 runs and leading the team in extra-base hits (7). She's also been a force on the basepaths, swiping 9-of-9 stolen base attempts..
  • The Falcons' pitching staff has faced an uphill battle all season, with a team ERA of 5.93 and opponents hitting .331 against them. Jessica Cantrell has been the workhorse, logging 116 innings with a respectable 3.86 ERA, but the rest of the staff has struggled to keep runs off the board. Walks have also been an issue, with 139 free passes issued compared to just 157 strikeouts, putting additional pressure on the defense.
