PORTALES, N.M. (March 30, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University saw two records snapped after a day trip to the Greyhound Open Saturday. While splitting the team this weekend between San Marcos and Portales, LCU found success at each meet.
After tying the school record for women's pole vault at the West Texas Relays, Drew Grellhesl finally broke through and etched her name into the record books. She had a height of 3.15m to surpass the previous mark of 3.05m set by Lauren Guthrie in 2023.
Following Grellhesl, Kyler Noble eclipsed the women's triple jump record in her first season with Lubbock Christian. With a distance of 11.44m, she was able to move past Jayda Rosales and her record of 11.13m set last season. Both field athletes narrowly missed the provisional mark times in their record-breaking performances.
For the Chaparrals, Corbin Hughes had a solid day in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. He had a time of 11.21 in the former, which good for the fourth best time on the team this season. Furthermore, he recorded 22.03 in the 200-meter dash, resulting in the third best team time this season.
Lubbock Christian will return to Lubbock, where they will take part in their next meet, the Masked Rider Open. The meet will be hosted by Texas Tech and will begin on April 4 and continue through April 5 at the Sports Performance Center.
