CANYON, Texas (April 13, 2025) -- Lubbock Christian University completed a three-day stint at the Jo Meaker Classic & Multi, hosted by West Texas A&M. The Chaparrals and Lady Chaps recorded more broken records and secured provisional marks, as they continue a historic season.Â
Anna Salisbury had another stellar weekend in a memorable season for her. The senior snapped her 200-meter dash record that she had set at last week's Masked Rider Open. In addition, her new time of 23.61 moves her in into 17th in Division II and fifth in the South Central Region. Furthermore, she once again set a new record in the 400-meter dash, improving to a time of 52.98. She remains at the top of the South Central Region in the event and is first nationally following the new time.
Another record from last week was already surpassed, as the women's 4x100 relay dashed to a new record time of 46.20. Anika Beukes, Anna Salisbury, Jozlyn Arana and Joy Egwu continue to dazzle, setting the record in the event at every meet this outdoor season. The quartet is currently ranked sixth in the South Central Region.
In addition, Joy Egwu and Drew Grellhesl each broke personal and school records at the meet. Egwu raced past her time in the 100-meter dash to a new record of 11.76. Grellhesl vaulted her way to a new mark of 3.19 meters in pole vault, breaking her record set at the Greyhound Open earlier this season.
Distance events highlighted the meet, as well. Senior Olivia Weider recorded her first provisional mark of the season, with a time of 11:00.26 in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase. Weider was a LSC Champion last season and will look to return to the national stage this season. Hagen Sage became the team leader in the 800-meters, as he timed in at 1:55.05. Kaleb Gaona and Joshua Huang also reached the top of the team leaderboards in the 5000-meters and 10,000-meters, respectively.Â
Daniel Sianez rounded out an impressive appearance from Lubbock Christian, as the freshman broke a personal record once again. He clocked in at 46.76 in the 400-meter dash, which also secured a provisional mark for Sianez.Â
Lubbock Christian will return to action this week, this time travelling south to San Angelo for a one-day meet hosted by Angelo State. Events will begin April 17 with LCU seeking another historic outing, as the outdoor season begins to reach its end.Â
