Lubbock Christian Scores Another Top Ten Team Finish at the WT Desert Invitational

Lady Chaps Have Yet to Finish Outside Top Ten This Season

TUCSON, Ariz. (April 1, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University completed their stint at the WT Desert Invitational with a sixth-place team finish. In their second trip to the Grand Canyon State, the Lady Chaps continued their season long streak of top ten team finishes. Across two rounds of play, they carded a combined score of 649 and 73-over-par.

For the fourth tournament in a row, Anaya Perales finished as the Lubbock Christian leader in the standings. Perales had a final score of 156 and 12-over-par, which resulted in a tied eighth place finish. Her strong tournament was bolstered by 21 pars, ranking as third most in the tournament field. In addition, she showed prowess on par 5 holes, with an average of 5.13 and score of one-over-par.

Lily Griffin was the next Lady Chap finisher, as she ended the two-day stretch with a score of 165 and 21-over-par. She closed her week in a tie for 36th place overall. Following Griffin, Alexandra Escamilla turned in a +26 170 after two rounds of play. Escamilla led the team in birdies and par 5 scoring, but could not find consistency throughout the tournament, leading to a tied 55th place finish.

Rianna LaFuente closed her tournament one stroke shy of Escamilla, with a total score of 171 and 27-over-par. She had 13 pars across 36 holes, which was the third most on the team. LaFuente tied for 59th place as an individual. Lastly, Alejandra Escobar scored a +30 174 over two days of play. She finished in a tied for 73rd overall.

Lubbock Christian will remain in Arizona, taking part in the RJGA Palm Valley Classic beginning this Friday, April 4. The Lady Chaps will look to build upon a strong regular season resume, as postseason play quickly approaches. The team was currently ranked 16th in the latest edition of NCAA DII Regional Rankings in a competitive West Region.
