SAN ANGELO, Texas (April 20, 2025) -- Lubbock Christian University took part in the impromptu ASU Invite this past Thursday.
Chaparral trio, Kole Carrasco, Zakari Quintanilla and Corbin Hughes, all competed in the 100 and 200-meter dashes, with nearly identical finishes. Carrasco had the top time in the 100-meter, clocking in at 10.93. Furthermore, Hughes had the best finish of both events in the 200-meter, as he claimed a fifth-place finish with a time of 11.01.Â
Distance athletes highlighted the meet, as well. Caden Nunn took home a second-place finish in the 800-meter, with a time of 1:57.66. In addition, Joel Morales had a time of 2:04.85 in the event, giving Lubbock Christian its second top five finisher. Another LCU athlete had a silver finish, as Samuel Bryan timed in at 4:04.24 in the 1500-meter. Also, Hagen Sage came in fourth with a time of 4:13.89, becoming the fourth individual top five finisher on the men's side of competition. Lastly, the men's 4x400 relay team consisting of Nunn, Morales, Khaedyn Lawson and Sage ranked third after recording a time of 3:27.99.Â
For the Lady Chaps, Serenity Lopez and Sydney Jones ended the meet with top five finishes. Lopez had a time of 1:02.40 in the 400-meter dash, ending in fourth place. Jones also came in fourth in the 800-meter, with a time of 2:22.02.Â
After the meet, Lubbock Christian will be off until the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships from May 1 to 3, pending any additional meets. The Chaparrals and Lady Chaps have had a historic season and will look to continue that success in their transition to the postseason.Â
