INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 29,2025) -- The NCAA revealed the participants in the Division II Women's Golf Championships, with Lubbock Christian University reaching their first regional championship in program history.
The Lady Chaps ranked 15th in the final edition of the West Regional rankings, cementing their legacy as the best team in the history of Lubbock Christian women's golf. Through 10 tournaments between the Fall and Spring, Lubbock Christian had a team adjusted scoring average of 308.9. Furthermore, the Lady Chaps recorded a four top three finishes, including their first tournament win since 2021-22 at the Nick Turner Invitational.
In addition to their regional selection, this season's team has notched marks both on the course and at awards ceremonies. Alexandra Escamilla had an LSC Golfer of the Week nod for her runner-up finish at the Nick Turner Invitational. Furthermore, Anaya Perales was named to the LSC All-Conference Second Team, as she became the second selection to an LSC All-Conference team in program history. Kyra Schmuhl was selected to the LSC All-Academic in consecutive years, remaining as the only Lady Chap to ever receive the award.
Lubbock Christian will travel north to Amarillo, Texas to take part in the NCAA West Regional Championships from May 5-7. The tournament will be hosted by West Texas A&M and held at Tascosa Golf Club, with the top 18 teams and six individuals battling it out for a chance to advance to the national stage. For the advancing teams, the NCAA DII Women's Golf Championships will take place at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev. from May 13-17.
