SAN ANGELO, Texas (April 6, 2025) – The back-half of the home-and-home Lone Star Conference West Division set of doubleheaders between Lubbock Christian University and No.7 Angelo State resumes Sunday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Mayer Field.

LCU and ASU Series Snapshot
  • Angelo State holds a 13-8 all-time record against Lubbock Christian.

  • Lubbock Christian University softball continues to navigate an up-and-down season, currently holding a 24-16 overall record and sitting at 15-15 in Lone Star Conference play. The Lady Chaps have been dominant at home (14-5) but have struggled on the road (6-10). However, they have gained momentum with consecutive road wins (three of their last four as well) heading into their Sunday doubleheader at No. 7 Angelo State. LCU has secured key victories this season (three against programs receiving votes or nationally ranked) while displaying offensive firepower in several high-scoring wins. The Lady Chaps are currently tied for fourth in the LSC West Division (7-7) and sits eighth in the overall conference standings (15-15).
  • Baylea Myers continues to anchor the Lubbock Christian offense, ranking 8th in the Lone Star Conference and 101st nationally with a .403 batting average. She ranks 9th in the LSC with 50 hits, tied for 9th in RBIs with 32, and 8th in total bases (81). Looking at ASU
  • Angelo State is enjoying a strong season, sitting at 31-9 overall and 22-8 in LSC play. The Rambelles have dominated at home (16-1) and remain perfect in neutral-site games (5-0).
  • Angelo State head coach Travis Scott secured his 1,000th career win last week with a win over UT Permian Basin, adding to an illustrious career that includes a .729 winning percentage, 101 postseason wins, 11 LSC titles, and six regional championships. A seven-time LSC Coach of the Year, Scott has never led a team to a losing season.
  • Offensively, the Rambelles hit .299 as a team and average 5.8 runs per game. Laylonna Applin leads the charge with a .472 batting average and ranks second nationally in total bases (117). Tatiana Trotter has homered five times in the past 11 games, and Erin Plunkett leads the team with 28 walks.
  • The Rambelles' pitching staff holds a 2.33 ERA with 195 strikeouts over 258.1 innings. Cheyenne Floyd is 17-5 with a 1.55 ERA and ranks sixth nationally in wins. Freshman Raegan Sucher has impressed with a 2.00 ERA, while Amelia Hatthorn is 9-2 on the season.
  • Angelo State boasts one of the top defenses in the LSC with a .972 fielding percentage, ranking second in the conference. The Rambelles have turned 19 double plays this season, placing them ninth nationally. Catcher Abby Brand has thrown out 10 base stealers, the second-most in the LSC.
