AMARILLO, Texas (May 7, 2025) -- Lubbock Christian University concluded their NCAA West Regional Championships debut with a tied 12th place finish in the 18-team field. After three rounds of play, the Lady Chaps carded a team score of 926 and 62-over-par. They were eliminated from advancing to the NCAA National Championships following this finish, as their record-breaking season came to a close.
Alexandra Escamilla went wire-to-wire as the Lady Chaps top finisher, as she recorded a final score of 227 and 11-over-par. She was especially strong on par 5 holes, ending the tournament tied for the lead in par 5 scoring. Her average was a 4.44 and her score was a stellar five-under-par. Furthermore, Escamilla tied for third in birdies after sinking ten over the course of 54 holes. She closed her second consecutive regional appearance with a tied 30th place finish.
Anaya Perales wrapped up her first season as a Lady Chap tied for 33rd place. Across the tournament, she carded a three-round total of 228 and 12-over-par. Perales was the Lubbock Christian leader in par 4 scoring, as she boasted an average of 4.24 and score of eight-over-par. After arriving in Lubbock this Fall, Perales made an immediate impact on the team, which was highlighted by a selection to Lone Star Conference All-Conference Second Team.
Coming in third in the Lubbock Christian standings was Alejandra Escobar, who turned in a +18 234 after three rounds of play. Escobar was the team leader in pars and ranked inside the top ten overall after recording 35 at the tournament. In addition, she joined Escamilla as the only Lady Chaps that had under-par scores on par 5 holes, as she had a score of two-under-par on these holes. Her appearance ended with a tied 57th place finish.
Seniors Lily Griffin and Kyra Schmuhl closed their Lubbock Christian careers following the tournament's end. In three rounds, Griffin had a final score of 240 and 24-over-par, as she ranked tied for 76th overall. Schmuhl entered the tournament as a sub in the second round and turned in a two-round score of 161 and 17-over-par. The final ranking of her career was a tie for 92nd place.
As previously mentioned, Lubbock Christian's 2024-25 season came to an end at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo. Despite the regional exit, this season was a historic one from start to finish, highlighted by a tournament victory, two LSC All-Conference honorees and the first team regional bid in program history. Lubbock Christian will return several notable members from this season and will be poised to make another deep run in the 2025-26 season.
