LCU Women’s Basketball Ranks Sixth in NCAA Division II with 3.823 GPA for 2024–25

ATLANTA, Ga. (July 22, 2025) - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls were announced for the 2024-25 season and Lubbock Christian University's women's basketball team was recognized for a 3.823 GPA, which ranked as the sixth-best GPA in all of NCAA Division II for a second consecutive season.

"We are proud of the accomplishments of our student-athletes as we continue to seek excellence in the classroom, on the court, and in the community," stated head coach Steve Gomez. "The bar has been set high by our past players, and we are thankful for the commitment and passion that this year's team exhibited in all areas of their lives."

LCU's GPA also ranked tied for 12th in team-GPA of all NCAA collegiate levels of women's basketball, which includes all universities at the NCAA Div. I, Div. II and Div. III levels nominated by a WBCA-member head coach. The Lady Chaps ranked sixth in Division II, which was led by St. Cloud State (3.892).

LCU has made the Team Honor Rolls every season since leaving NAIA in 2013, and this season marks their ninth consecutive season producing a GPA in the top-10 of Division II. This season also marked the fourth consecutive season in which they produced at least a 3.8 GPA and their 3.823 team-GPA is their second-highest during their time at the Division II level. The GPA was the highest team-GPA during the cumulative 2024-25 season by an LCU program (this season).

Weighted grades are converted to a 4.0 scale. Teams are nominated for the honor by a WBCA-member head coach. A team must have a 3.000 or better GPA to be nominated.
