GOODYEAR, Ariz. (September 15, 2025) — Lubbock Christian University women's golf opened the 2025–26 season with a strong showing at the RJGA Shootout at Estrella, finishing the opening round tied for fourth place among 14 teams at the Golf Club of Estrella (Par 72, 5,901 yards). The Lady Chaps combined for a team score of 301, positioning themselves firmly in contention heading into Tuesday's final round.
Senior
Anaya Perales and freshman Nadalie Cannell paced LCU with rounds of 74, tying for 11th individually. Both were steady throughout the day, as Perales ranked among the field's best in par-5 scoring at 4.75 (-1), while Cannell held even on par-3 scoring at 3.00 (E) and notched four birdies. Their consistency gave the Lady Chaps a reliable 1–2 punch at the top of the lineup.
Alexandra Escamilla contributed a 76, tying for 25th and also shining on par-5 holes, playing them at 4.75 (-1). Escamilla was one of three Chaps to record four birdies in the round, joining Perales and Cannell. Senior
Alejandra Escobar and Biola transfer Hailey Hays rounded out the scoring with matching 77s, tying for 36th. Escobar added three birdies and played par-5s at even par, while Hays was particularly steady with 12 pars on the day.
As a team, the Lady Chaps thrived on the longer holes, ranking among the top four in the field on par-5 scoring at 4.95 (-1). They also proved aggressive in converting scoring chances, tallying 16 birdies on the day — the second-most in the field behind Cal State LA (19). Cannell, Perales, and Escamilla each contributed four birdies, helping LCU stay in the upper tier of the leaderboard. On par-3s, the team posted an average of 3.25 (+5), while their 4.28 (+14) scoring average on par-4s matched Cal State East Bay and Point Loma. Overall, LCU finished the day with 41 total pars, showing balance across the lineup.
