This image shows five women golfers posing together on a golf course. They are all wearing matching blue shirts with a logo and white bottoms (a mix of skirts, pants, and shorts). All five are wearing white golf caps and golf shoes. They are standing arm-in-arm on what appears to be a tee box or fairway area, with their shadows visible on the ground. The setting is a desert golf course with mountains visible in the background under a blue sky with white clouds. There are green trees and manicured grass areas typical of a golf course environment. Another golfer can be seen in the distance on the left side of the image.

Freshman Nadalie Cannell Leads With Top-10 Finish As LCU Posts Third-Lowest 36-Hole Score In Program History

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (September 16, 2025) — Lubbock Christian University women's golf opened its 2025–26 season with a statement finish, placing fourth at the RJGA Shootout at Estrella at Golf Club of Estrella (Par 72, 5,901 yards). The Lady Chaps carded rounds of 301–296—597 (+21) in a 14-team field, marking one of the best 36-hole performances in program history.

Freshman Nadalie Cannell stole the spotlight in her collegiate debut, tying for sixth place individually at 146 (74–72). Her 36-hole total ranks tied for ninth-lowest in program history and is the best by a Lady Chaps member since Anaya Perales' 141 last spring at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic. Cannell was steady across the card, playing par-5s at 4.63 (-3),which was fifth in the field, and par-4s at 4.15 (+3), and rolling in nine birdies overall — the second-most in the tournament field.

Perales tied for 20th with a 150 (74–76), highlighted by an even-par performance on par-3s (3.00 E), which was tied for sixth in the field. Senior Alejandra Escobar and freshman Hailey Hays tied for 22nd at 151 (77–74). Escobar played par-5s at 4.88 (-1) and dropped in three birdies, while Hays' consistency showed with 27 pars across two rounds (tied for second in the field). Sophomore Alexandra Escamilla rounded out the lineup with a 153 (76–77), tying for 34th.

The Lady Chaps distinguished themselves with a balanced team effort:
  • 25 birdies, second only to Cal State LA (32).
  • Among the few teams to finish under par on the longest holes, LCU averaged 4.95 (-2) on par-5s, good for third-best in the tournament.
  • The second-round 296 (+8) is the third-lowest single round in program history, and the overall team total of 597 is the third-lowest 36-hole score ever for LCU, and their lowest since April 2025.

Cal State San Marcos claimed the team title at 579, while Cal State LA (585) and Cal State East Bay (591) rounded out the podium.
