Lubbock Christian Sits Tied For Eighth After Opening Two Rounds At La Paloma

AMARILLO, Texas (September 29, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University women's golf opened play at the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational Monday, completing two rounds at the La Paloma course at Tascosa Golf Club (par 71, 5,807 yards). The Lady Chaps sit tied for eighth at +27 (613) in the 15-team field after posting rounds of 297 and 298. The 54-hole event concludes Tuesday with the final round.
 
LCU was led by Alexandra Escamilla, who produced rounds of 73 (+2) and 71 (E) to sit tied for 13th individually at 144. Escamilla's second-round even-par card featured four birdies. She heads into Tuesday chasing the individual leader (Tova Sandren of New Mexico JC) by seven shots.
 
Anaya Perales also provided steady play, opening with an even-par 71 before adding a 76 in the afternoon to tie for 22nd at 147 (+5). Perales carded five total birdies on the day, with her first-round front nine 34 (-2) marking one of the team's best stretches of the season.
 
Nadalie Cannell sits tied for 36th at 151 (+9) after rounds of 76 and 75. Alejandra Escobar improved on her morning 78 with a 76 in Round 2 to land tied for 49th at 154 (+12). Hailey Hays posted 77–80 to tie for 60th at 157 (+15).
 
Competing as individuals, Kilee Ivy recorded an 81–80 (161, +19) and Maryona Lusk signed for 86–88 (174, +32).
 
Team-wise, LCU ranked tied for sixth in par-3 scoring (3.17, +7) and showed strength on par-5s, finishing sixth in the field at 4.80 (-6). The Lady Chaps also tallied 19 total birdies, led by Escamilla and Perales, and collected 105 pars, sixth-most among all teams.

West Texas A&M (-3) leads the tournament after 36 holes, with Midwestern State (+4) and Angelo State (+6) rounding out the top three.
 
Game Notes
» Escamilla (73–71) is tied for seventh, seven shots off the individual lead. Her 71 was the lowest round since carding a 71 in Pueblo, Colo. in October of 2023 at The Sam Proal Insurance Invitational.

» Perales' opening-round 71 (E) matched her best round since posting a 69 in April of last season (2024-25) in Goodyear, Ariz. at RJGA Women's Palm Valley Classic.

» LCU sits tied for sixth in par-3 scoring (3.17, +7).

» The Lady Chaps rank sixth on par-5s at 4.80 (-6).

» Lady Chaps tied for eighth overall at +27 (613) after 36 holes.

» Tuesday's final round will close out the 54-hole event with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
