Bounce-Back Opportunity Awaits LCU

CSU-Pueblo Visits for Monday Matchup in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 7, 2025) – The Lubbock Christian women's soccer team had a tough task to open the 2025 season, falling to No. 4 Colorado School of Mines, but they have a quick chance to bounce back with a Monday afternoon game against CSU-Pueblo.

LADY CHAP NEWS AND NOTES
  • LCU plays four straight games against teams from the Centennial State to open the 2025 season. After the matchup with the Thunderwolves Monday, they will hit the road for games against Adams State and Fort Lewis
  • Lexi De La Cruz scored the lone goal for Lubbock Christian against Mines. It was the 32nd goal of her collegiate career and her 20th goal in an LCU uniform.
  • Assists on the De La Cruz goal came from Journey Curs, who took the corner kick that began the scoring play, and Ella Spiller. Spiller led LCU in assists last season with seven, while Curs was second on the team with four
  • Monday will mark the seventh matchup all-time between Lubbock Christian and CSU-Pueblo. The Lady Chaps are 2-3-1 against the Thunderwolves in the series, which began in 2017, but they are 2-0-1 in the last three matchups, including a 3-1 in Lubbock in 2022
  • Spiller, Emma Best and Casey Storer all played the full 90 minutes in the field for Lubbock Christian on Saturday, and Emma Wright played the entire game in goal as well

SCOUTING THE THUNDERWOLVES
  • CSU-Pueblo has already played a pair of games in Texas to start their 2025 campaign, including a 0-0 draw at UT Permian Basin and a 2-0 win at Sul Ross
  •  The Thunderwolves were picked to finish ninth in the 2025 RMAC Preseason Poll
  • Miya Begay and Alva Hellenius have both gotten starts in goal so far in the young season. Begay was the winning keeper against Sul Ross, making three saves to earn the shutout
  • John Constable is now in his second season leading the Thunderwolf women's soccer team after posting a 4-10-4 record in 2024
  • Caytlynn Garland and Abby Menk were the two CSUP players to find the back of the net in their win against Sul Ross. Garland was second on the team in points last year with two goals and an assist
